Spoilers The Strange New Worlds Starship Thread™

The nacelle pylons look open with large gaps, much like the Ceretos. I would have expected TOS Mirandas' main hulls to be filled out a little more than just a dish with a pair of nacelles slapped on underneath. Maybe my mind has just been permanently contaminated by Coventry and Surya designs. Just looks more like a Ceretos-type to me.

I'm not seeing a California class style gap in the pylons. I think that's just a reflection

If it's the same ship here, there's clearly no large gap in the pylons, at most it has the same gap that's in the Enterprise's pylons.

Heh ... it's amazing that we 'Shippers' may actually get a slew of nicely visible ship-shots in this new series that we can enjoyably dissect for the foreseeable future.

The guys at TREKYARDS are probably salivating all over their keyboards at this point.

Looking at your image again Harpsichord, yeah, if there was a second nacelle we would be able to clearly see it at that angle. So I do I think it only has one nacelle now.

Two gaps, actually. Not identical to the California's, mind you (never said they were), missing the middle portion between the nacelles as well, but a TOS-era version of the design:

Looks pretty close to me.

Here's a larger render...

I guess it's possible that the port nacelle might be hidden by the primary hull ...

But I'm not sure.

It would be really cool if it is a "Saladin" type single nacelle ship though.

Huh! Well, yeah, it does have one nacelle (with Kelvin-esque blue bussards, no less!) but it looks really off-to-starboard from the center line. It does seem to have one big California-sized gap in the pylon, though. Maybe it's a Saladin-ized California? Pfft... I got nothin' now...

They probably never were on any previous versions of the ship, no. If STD used them as windows at some point, that was an outlier.
I think they were windows on STD - I think that's where the briefing room or Captain's ready room was? It may have also been the room where that torpedo got lodged. Maybe it was decided to not use it as anything anymore after that, deeming it too vulnerable?

Somebody probably pointed out to the SNW producers that they were never windows.
