Spoilers The Strange New Worlds Starship Thread™

It's pretty obvious the SP-FX Team threw in the turbolift sequence as a bit of fun and to add some excitement to the eventual chase scene with Booker.
I don't think it's any worse than Riker and the Viceroy fighting over a bottomless pit in the bottom of the Enterprise-E secondary hull in "NEMESIS".

Most folks just go with the flow and enjoy the scene for what it's worth with Riker/Booker eventually defeating the Bad Guy.

I don't mind in in latter "post Doctor Who TARDIS tech we saw in Enterprise" Discovery. In Q&A however...

I think SNW needs to be judged on it's own merits - the sets from Disco S2 can be set aside, written off by refits.

The briefing room set from S2 had those round ports which we know aren't windows, so they must have been viewscreens instead. The corridors etc will be new sets rather than redressed from Discovery.

From what I've seen they've made a good effort to match the new saucer rim windows to the interior sets. The production team clearly do care about this.

Whatever things we can nitpick, it was always like this in Star Trek. How about the Enterprise-E ready room which can't possibly fit on the model?

Remember when the Delta Flyer sprouted a backroom? And then, somehow, a god damn jeffries tube?

Even the Runabout had a Jefferies tube somewhere!

And that CG monstrosity of a engineering

I've said it before and I'll say it again: We already know from ENT S2 that ships in the relative past of DIS S3/4 already had technology that allowed them to be bigger on the inside, so the Infinite Turbolift of "That Hope Is You, Part II" isn't really a problem. :)

Then why are there starships at all in the 32nd century, and not just TARDISes "dimensionally transcendental travel pods"?

Did I see a publicity still of Pike and Spock in conference with a map in the background within the last week or so?

Yeah, should the Argus Array exist at this point?

Yes.

Also, the positions of the named systems relative to each other look somewhat off...?

No. The last time I was through the quadrant I noticed that they'd relocated a couple of systems by a few light years to make way for a hyperspace bypass. The locals weren't happy with the decision. Small businesses that had grown up around the warp routes found themselves starved for tourist traffic.

My rough estimate.

The computer files for the ship were provided to several merchandisers, including the folks who released the model kit.

442 meters.

Which is what, all of 15 meters or 50 feet off your estimate? Seems pretty damn close to nothing, doesn't it? That's pretty good for an eyeball estimate.

Discoprise is 625 M in length

prove me wrong.

You're wrong. That was easy.

Also: thanks to @Harpsichord for finding that image file!
I'd have to dig out the Star Charts book, but I'm guessing it's the map Geoffrey Mandel did for Picard.

Argus and Setlik suggest space near the Cardassian border. I can't really make out the others.

Looking forward to seeing the episode for the context!

Argus Array? Setlik System?

Yeah, should the Argus Array exist at this point?

"Argus Array" is a name that's been used for real clustered telescope concepts, both optical and radio. Since the mythological Argus was a giant with 100 eyes, it seems to be an appropriate name for telescopes that consist of fixed arrays of many smaller semi-independent units. It may have just become a generic term for whatever the most powerful Federation telescope of this sort happens to be – in much the same way as Jupiter Station in the 2150s is definitely not the same Jupiter Station of the 2370s.

Weren’t the pods seen in ENT time machines? Then they would have been destroyed by the 32nd century. Sure, the tech would still exist, but we don’t know if the time travel aspect has something to do with that tech. Personally, I agree that by the 32nd century we should have seen tiny ships with huge insides as was shown in ENT, but they opted for ships with detached parts for ‘teh future!’ ;)

Better detached parts than bigger on the inside nonsense.
