THE BAR WAS THERE BEFORE GUINAN!!! She couldn't have named it, it was named before she came aboard!
It was? It was called Ten Forward before Guinan came aboard? How do we know this?

In "All Good Things...," Troi refers to a reception in Ten Forward when Picard first came aboard the Enterprise-D. However, it was never referred to by that name on screen in that time period. Troi could have simply meant "the area of the ship that we now call Ten Forward."

So, for all we know, it was called something else until "The Child," and it was Guinan who coined the name for the bar.

Or is there more evidence than just one throwaway line by Troi in one episode that you could drive a pickup truck through?

Yes, it was. Troi (in retrospect) specifically calls it Ten Forward.

PICARD: Counsellor, do you remember when I first came on board the Enterprise?
TROI: Yes.
PICARD: What happened after the welcoming ceremony?
TROI: There was a reception in Ten Forward. I introduced you to Worf and the other senior officers.

If the area had been called something other than Ten Forward at the time Troi was talking about, she would have referred to it as such. She would have said "there was a reception on Deck 10" or something like that.

Yes, Ten Forward had been there for many years when Troi actually spoke those lines, but the fact remains, it existed even as far back as the scene she was talking about - Picard first taking over as captain.

That's interesting because Worf would not be a senior officer.

It's a single line out of how many episodes? Ignoring it doesn't break the world.

Harry Kim was a senior officer on Voyager, despite being only an Ensign...so why couldn't Worf, a LTJG at the time, also be one?

Neither does accepting it. ;)

Perhaps not, but his status as the first Klingon in Starfleet might qualify him to attend meetings of the senior staff....
Why? He's a Lt jg who's not a department head. Being a Klingon or the first of anything doesn't grant him special privileges. Maybe if there was a Klingon matter to be discussed he might be invited.

That and it was named for its physical location on the ship! They didn't place it in that location because of some random street address Guinan had previously. That and the fact that she wasn't on the ship when it had 10 Forward!

It was meant as a joke but it didn't really work.

Who else has re-watched "Assignment Earth" in preparation for the next episode? :)

Oh for sure. This is one of the TOS episodes that ‪‪I revisit the most often.

It’s a shame the experience of making the episode was so negative for Teri Garr. She’s always been a favorite of mine, an underrated, incredibly talented actor.

If it hadn't been named dropped All Good Things I'd disagree with you.
It could have existed and had a different name, or not named at all.
The name drop was badly written. Shame since they did a pretty good job matching Encounter At Farpoint and Season One otherwise.

Yeah also the Ent-D model in Season 1 didn't have Ten Forward's windows. They were added on the newer model as it didn't exist until season 2.
Though the older models were still used in stock shots and the like.

Well, he specifically referred to Guinan and Seven, the car chase and how he switched off.
Seems to me he's putting Guinan and Seven in a car together and involved in a car chase. Somethings that Guinan was shown not to be part of. And since she's been a resident of the Earth since before the invention of the auto I can't see why anyone could object to Guinan driving. IIRC, Guinan doesn't even walk to her car until the car chases is well underway and maybe over.

Yeah, it's the fact that he sandwiches the complaint about Guinan driving in-between complaints about the car chase that strikes me. He refers to Guinan and Seven as driving, says he misses Whoopi in "the" scene (when Young Guinan is in multiple scenes), and then refers back to the car chase. Seems pretty obvious to me that he saw a black woman in the car with Seven and assumed it was Guinan.

Remember the Trump friends who were paid $700 a day to build a wwii era work camp, and hold arriving immigrants there, until their immigration trial, per immigrant?

I can only imagine that Sanctuary districts work on the same principles.

The Federal Government pays each municipal government to build a Sanctuary District, and then they pay 700 dollars a day, per gimme, to keep them alive and safe inside a fence full of rapists?

If the government just gave you 5 thousand dollars a week to stay home and play video games, you could do that right?
