Spoilers Legends of Tomorrow season 7

Cute idea, but it seems that if you're trying to game ways to alter a point in history, there are far more imaginative options than what anyone seemed to be considering here. I mean, why do all the time travelers focus only on the actual moment of the assassination? Why not stop the assassins days earlier? Why not, say, fix the Archduke's car that morning so it didn't stall at that moment? Or block the road so the Archduke takes a different route? Or go back years further and alter the web of alliances that compelled the nations of Europe to go to war over the assassination in the first place? If Thawne was only concentrating on that exact moment, then there were countless ways to get around him by making sure that moment never arrived in the first place.

Still, they only had 40 minutes and were focusing more on the character stories, so of course they didn't have room to get into all those options. The assassination was just a MacGuffin, a goal Sara had to strive for and Thawne had to stop her from. And I liked how they worked it out, negotiating a compromise.

If this incarnation of Thawne has come around on the wrongness of changing time, he must be a different time remnant (or variant, to crib an MCU term) than the Tom Cavanaugh Thawne that screwed up Barry Allen's life in the recent Flash miniseries. I doubt we'll ever get an explanation for where they respectively came from and how they relate to each other. It's just wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff.

Another awesome episode of Legends! They’re hitting it out of the park this season. I wonder if one of the characters, maybe Gwyn, will be taking Thawne’s place.

That was interesting. Last episode I watched was the 100th. So I was not completely following what is going on. But one nice thing about Legends is it’s usually one of the few of these shows were you can watch individual episodes without knowing the season long plot lines.

That was the most Doctor Who-ish episode the series has ever done and that's saying a lot.

In fact, given the double-take Nate gives her as he walks by, I think we might even have had a Doctor in the house, er, bar.

Maybe there's multiple versions of Eobard Thawne running around?

One from the old universe Pre-Crisis, another from the new one?

Well that's exactly what a Time Remnant is.

Precrisis Earth One is 17 million years ago.

It would take months of running through the time stream to get there.

Any living thing running that far for that long would die of hunger and thirst before they got to Earth 1.

Barry can send his consciousness through time?

Yup.

That'll work.

My pet theory: the old coot running the bar is actually an older version of Gwyn.

But he doesn't have a Welsh accent.

I'd ask if there's some DC character he might be, but Legends seems to have little interest in tying into DC characters or continuity anymore.

Yes, that's why I said "they" instead of "he." That part is a given. The question we'll probably never get answered is how they relate to one another.
This Thawne is the time remnant created from "Flashpoint" who tries, but ultimately fails, to save himself from the Black Flash during season 2.

The Thawne in "Armageddon" is the reconstituted "original-ish" one from "Heart of the Matter, Part 2"

Donald Faison (Scrubs, Clueless) will be guest starring in the season(/series?) finale. If the show gets renewed, he may appear in season eight. The role?
“an unauthorized time traveler with high-profile aspirations,” who is “looking for a boost that only fame, fortune, and glory can provide,” per the official description. “

While a character name is not given, that description sounds suspiciously like
Booster Gold
to me. The "We can’t wait for our fans to see who he’s playing" definitely makes it sound like it is an existing DC character.

Is this the first time they've ended a season without knowing if they're getting another one? (Of course, it's quite possible the CW won't exist as we know it before too long.)

Looking at the renewal dates on Wikipedia, I would say yes.

I think it would've made more sense if it had been Robo-Sara who ended up guarding the fixed point. She seemed like a more rational being, and it would've let Sara technically keep her promise to take on the role herself.

Although, given how Legends rolls, I kind of wondered for a moment if Sara actually would stay behind at the fixed point permanently and Robo-Sara would be reprogrammed to take her place on the Legends. But I guess that would've meant breaking up Sara and Ava, and that would've been sad.

Speaking of sad, I really hope that cliffhanger wasn't what it looked like. Now that they have the ship back (or a reasonable facsimile), you could argue that they don't narratively "need" a corporeal Gideon anymore because they can put her mind back in the ship; but that would mean giving up Amy Louise Pemberton's enlarged role and her new relationships. So I doubt they'd really go there.

I don’t think Gideon will be permanently dead, we’ll see. I’m happy Gwyn wasn’t the one who took up the mantle of fixing time from Thawne. I don’t want Matt Ryan to leave the show until the show ends (which my guess is will be next season). *

This was another excellent episode of Legends. Just 2 more to go!

* and yes I know that none of the Arrowverse shows have been renewed yet but I seriously doubt they cancel Flash and Legends without them being given a proper series finale.
