I will always prefer Dr. Crusher, if only because everything about Pulaski rubs me the wrong way, and not just the Data thing in the beginning. I mean I'm mostly joking when I call her the Queen of the Space Harpies, sitting upon the Gorgon Throne, but I really don't like her. Though I also don't like McCoy, and I generally don't like the abrasive/grouchy doctor archetype (with one exception, see below) though tbh I don't think Pulaski was all that much like McCoy she was her own character, especially after that stuff with Data was dropped.Problem is, even if she's her own character, I don't like that character.
That being said I don't know how much of my liking of Dr.Crusher is simply because she isn't Pulaski. But I genuinely think that she had potential as a character, and that Cheryl McFadden could have performed a much better, more nuanced character if she had been given better material. Her scene in Data's Day is marvellous and I really liked her in the High Ground.
My favourite Trek Doctor, on the other hand is probably Dr.T'Ana from Lower Decks. Yeah she's a grouchy doctor but...with her I don't mind, for some reason. I think it's because she is a humanoid cat (and with cats that personality just makes sense) and because she got enough moments to show that she cares, imo.
