That is definitely Robert Beltran’s voice. A nice nod to TNG’s “Brothers” when Data does the same thing using Picard’s voice/command codes.

Yup. ‪‪I didn’t catch it until a second viewing, but ‪‪I heard it in his voice, and then saw Beltran listed in the credits.

One more thought after a quick rewatch before heading to sleep, I loved hearing Drednok use Chakotay’s voice when he used his access codes, just like Data used Picard’s for the same purpose in TNG S04E03 Brothers.

So, is Janeway not a solid hologram like the doctor?

Seems she'd have been the best one to build the warp thingy. And Rok wanted to hug her but talked like she couldn't.

Unusual for trek holograms to have no substance

Maybe there's a protocol in place preventing her from tampering with the ship's hardware. We do see her throw a wrench when demonstrating to Rok that time is messed up.

I remember a poster here saying that Prodigy would never do a time-travel story since kids are too dumb to understand the concept. This episode not only proves them wrong but it gives us a temporal anomaly story we haven't seen in Star Trek before. I think any kids watching who haven't seen much sci-fi will get a lot out of the new concepts presented.

I'm going to say that so far, Prodigy has had the best first season since TOS. I hope the rest of the season delivers the same or better quality.

I thought that the scene with Gwyn and Jenkom where they're looking out at at the tachyon storm did a good job of explaining why they aimlessly drift into it. Individually they have the pieces of the puzzle to figure out they should go around (Gwyn knows it's a tachyon storm and will affect artificial gravity, Jenkom knows that could compromise the protodrive) but since they haven't learned to communicate with each yet other they don't realize the danger until it's (almost) too late.

Has Janeway not touched anything before now? I assumed she was hard light, but I can't actually remember her affecting a physical object. So maybe that was an erroneous assumption.

It's pretty clear to me now that Janeway really is just a training advisor. Anything else is out of her wheelhouse. Apparently she wasn't just being coy when she identified the kids as cadets. She doesn't have unfettered control of the ship. She's smart enough to be adaptable to circumstances, but she's not a magic bullet.

That's one of the more complicated temporal anomalies that Star Trek has ever shown, I think. But it did a pretty good job of explaining it.

I'm really pleased with Rok-Tahk's growh in this episode. And also a bit horrified by the fact that she was alone for an unspecified amount of time -- probably a few months, at least. That's one more traumatic event to add to the pile.

Wow. What a strange position to take. Kids I'd say are more likely to get their minds around new concepts than adults. I was 7 when Back to the Future came out and I don't think I had a problem with it at all. And I don't think I was exceptionally smart either.

Janeway has restrictions and only has access to lower level functions as a training hologram, and says she can’t do things for them, only advise. It makes sense there would be limits to what she can do/interact with, although that may change as she grows beyond her programming and upgrades herself a la The Doctor.

There was a Back to the Future Saturday morning cartoon, kids can understand time travel. Hell Doctor Who is supposed to be a kid's show.

Yeah, I couldn't understand the suggestion either. I grew up on Back to the Future and was introduced to the concept of alternate universes at a young age with things like Sliders and Narnia. Kids are brighter than people give them credit for.

Another great episode, this show is astounding!

The temporal anomaly was wacky, odd, intriguing and very Voyager. A bit of a mix between Cause and Effect, Shattered and The Next Phase. As a kid I would have loved something like this.

Interesting notes:

-Drednok can replicate himself (or only his body and transfer himself there? Not totally sure here) with a Federation replicator
-Drednok knows the ship well and knows Chakotay’s codes!!!!
-His relationship with the Diviner seems like a more or less reluctant servant here.
-Rok aged by a few years (?) in this episode…That was kinda dark and unexpected.
-HJaneway didn’t really know the crew were not cadets (really?!), but it’s not like she really cared much anyway after all.

Looking forward to next week…Am I the only one to get a Terminator vibe from that last shot?

8…And I was tempted to go for a 9.

I have to say that Janeway exchanging words with Drednok was really good.
The way Mulgrew delivered that he was the one who attacked her former crew and deleted her files... plus when she said 'I've seen you before' and the music suddenly turned.
Very VOY vibe here.
