I totally get that! My stance was pretty much... right when the fourth season was premiering, I figured 90% odds of renewal. Which is practically a lock. Once I saw where things were going for Tilly, and as the weeks rolled on by without news of renewal, I kind of lowered that down to around 70% instead, figuring that maybe the mothership show was branching out into a spinoff or two.
kurtzman, his eyes closed Shaka, when the walls fell Chenza at court, the court of silence Zinda, his eyes red
I'll watch it as long as it's on, though I hope it finds a better direction than it has had so far this season.
But I was promised cancellation! And that Kurtzman would be fired!! Excuse me while I sit in the corner, seethe, and prepare to hate-watch the show five times minimum.
As Disney’s Peter Pan (not J.M. Barrie) said: edited to correct misattribution of quote. I foolishly trusted a quote from GoodReads that was not accurate
good. i haven't been as enthused about this season as i was in the past, but they could turn it around. I'd like to see where they go with the show.
I think the first half of the fourth season is up there with the middle or so of the second for me. My two favorite stretches thus far. I hope it clicks for you more going forward!
It does kind of seem like they need to switch things up again. So far it has been: tribe of Klingons and the resulting war that their awakening leads to and some random mirror universe stuff capped off with an even more mysterious visit from the Enterprise. signal that ultimately led to the discovery of a mysterious time traveling AI and the urge to ditch this continuity headache by time traveling to a mysterious destination in the future. force that devastated the federation by destroying most of the dilithium that was caused by a psychokinetic orphan who was sitting on a huge cache of dilithium. anomaly that turns out to be an even more mysterious planet-destroying device sent by a mysterious species with 6 more episodes of mysteries remaining. So for 5 I am going with: Disco travels to another galaxy and uncovers that all civilizations were wiped out by some mysterious force that only becomes a threat to the federation after the big half reveal in episode 5.
Well, extra-galactic does seem a natural progression at this point. My preference would be: Pin that up front and center and go from there.
was thinking the same. We know that a Star Trek vs Star Wars crossover is going to happen one day, don’t we?
I've got a feeling they'll find a way to work Tilly back in on a permanent basis. I think either she'll be in charge of field-training on Discovery, or DSC will split its focus to be more than just Discovery. They've been starting to lean in the latter direction already. Vance is all but a regular (his name should be in the front credits at this point) while Kovich and Rillak are appearing frequently.
