perhaps they have two circulatory systems, one with red blood cells and the other with pink blood ones!

They also have a damn good immune system because they keep cutting their hands with knives of questionable cleanliness and never get any infections (they did that back in the days of Kahless when they were pretty much in a medieval state of hygiene).

On the other hand, she thought her engagement had been broken at the time. I’m sure they could find some way to work around it so T’Lyn could be with a human. Maybe her parents decided to let her pick her own bond mate or her bond mate died young, etc.
Or maybe any potential bondmate would be put off by her being so unstable. She's practically V'tosh ka'tur! /s

These episodes just keep getting better with time. I love it when Adult animation sitcoms do the 'unconventional story telling structure' episodes, and this one had the benefit of having excellent new characters that are just as interesting as our mains.

But my absolute FAVORITE part of this episode is seeing everyone running to battle stations dressed up in all the familiar ridiculous things 24th era Starfleeters do on their time off.

I'm surprised Klingon Boimler didn't blow up the Pakled vessel.

Yeah, my presumption is that the Klingons should've joined the fight against the Pakleds, but then that would lead to questions of their changed loyalties, and the Vulcans and Cerritos would've been on them like crazy in disbelief (even if they understand how Klingons operate on a Von Stauffenberg system of Captaincy), and I think he made the right call to go directly to the High Council (I presume) and notify them ahead of time on what had happened.

-----

As for the Klingon blood, my presumption has always been:
* Red = Traditional Klingon Blood
* Pink = Klingon Blood for those mutated in some experiments to reverse the Augment Virus.

We see pink blood in Star Trek VI, Discovery, and now Lower Decks. But other Star Trek movies (Star Trek III and Generations) and other episodes of Discovery (T'Kuvma's death and Kol's facepaint) show red blood.

I felt it safe to assume that blood chemistry was fixed by the time of the TNG era, and Gorkon was just previously a Disco-era Klingon (and, per T'Kuvma's death, not all Disco Klingons were pink-bloods). wej Duj shows us that pink blood persists in a number of individuals on Dorg's ship at least, even if it seems to be a minority (as in, never seen) elsewhere. This could be the result of Klingon segregation of surviving pink bloods. Of course, Dorg and Togg could've been related, descended from a pink blood clan. It could also be somewhat of an explanation for Dorg's descent into unfavoritism, if the pink bloods are more akin to rebelling against the current Cancellarial Reign.

Colonel Worf could tell the difference on sight between Klingon (pink) blood and Human (red) blood in Star Trek VI, but this could be the result of pink-blood segregation. A red-blood (like Commander Kruge and crew) would not be allowed in the presence of the Chancellor, and thus it was curious that a red-blood was involved at Khitomer. Colonel Worf's "grandson" was a red blood, but we don't know much about the House of Mogh and its mating practices with red blood women in the next two generations or so. Even unmasking Colonel West in that scene didn't tell Worf for sure that it wasn't a Klingon, and only a thorough scan later on would determine that it wasn't a flathead or species reassignment individual they were dealing with.

Klingon blood was always red, it was changed to pink only for TUC in order to bypass an R rating or something like that. I just figure LD made it pink as a cute callback to the movies. No need to twist yourself into a pretzel trying to figure out how to make it work. That way lies madness.

DSC also did it in a combat sequence involving L'Rell, Ash Tyler and Georgiou. Some Klingons wounded or killed in that battle bled pinkish blood.

I know. I've examined the issue thoroughly, multiple times over the years. Lower Decks didn't bring back pink blood, Discovery did (in "Point of Light" only). Point of Light is (I believe) the only Season 2 episode of Discovery rated TV-MA, after they consciously made an effort to lower their rating system to something more akin to Star Trek of old.

One wonders if the pink blood in Point of Light was a conscious (and failed) choice to keep the rating low. Point of Light, of course, has the infant beheading, so it was pretty much a lost cause. wej Duj is certainly doing a call back (Ma'ah even says "Klingon blood runs as reddish-pink as ever", a funny line that may be trying to note the disparity), but there may yet be a way to tie the three appearances of pink blood versus twelve+ appearances of red blood (I haven't done a full count yet) given to Klingons.

Have you met Star Trek fans? Lewis Carroll has nothing on this bunch.

Interview with Mike about this episode

There were hints to this reveal all the way back in Episode 2. The Pakleds were using Klingon disruptors, they were mining what was needed for the Bomb.

If you go back through the season, we’re putting Klingon disruptors in the Pakled’s hands in the second episode to tie into this; they’re mining this stuff for the bomb that Captain Dorg gave them….

T'Lyn
confirmed for Season 3 tho

Discovery has made its own canon. While I haven't seen that episode, DSC klingons look quite different than TNG+ klingons, so redesigned blood for DSC shouldn't be taken to mean that maybe SOME klingons have the pink blood and SOME have the red blood or whatnot.
