Thankfully, it didn't ruin the trailer for me. But it was close.
Saru's extra insignia....maybe something Kalpien/Ba'ul related?
Listen, if they find a way to film a scene where Cronenberg's stroking Grudge Blofeld-style, I'll officially declare Discovery the best Trek.
I feel like the Ferengi captain might be played by Noah Averbach-Katz. Something about the eyes.
Well, that might be the most cliche ridden trailer of this new era. I'll go into season 4 with an open mind, but I was not convinced with that trailer.
I think the thing I'm still most curious about is what Saru's role will be. He still has the rank of captain, so are they going to have another Enterprise-A situation and have multiple captains? Or is he going to get command of a different ship? Maybe Voyager-J.
I'm hoping it's an ambassadorial role. The uniform he was wearing along with the pin makes me think he might be like the Federation emissary to his homeworld. He had a very dignified look. I think thinking about this trailer, I too am more interested in Suru than anyone else.
That is possible, but it would seem weird to have a Starfleet ambassador rather than a Federation one. I had speculated over in the Future of Trek board that maybe they will do an Academy series set in the 32nd-century and Saru will move from DSC to that and become a professor. A history teacher would make sense given that he lived through history.

I like this trailer better than the one from the spring. This one seems to focus on the characters, while the one in the spring was basically just "Space Anomaly!"
Cinematic to the max! Paramount is going to have their hands full topping this for the big screen. Perhaps this sets up a cliffhanger for the next feature film?

I am guessing perhaps that captain has mixed heritage, just like the Federation president appears to.
Sort of like the time capsule pilot in that one episode of Enterprise.
Post-Marker only so, when it happens, I can say I called it here: After this season, "Calypso" will make sense.
