It's an Andorian cruiser like the one on the left, only this one seems to have a fin structure above the aft.

Even if they were, they would still be made using a computer (Computer Generated Imagery), not drawn.
Well, you can draw on a computer, you know. :) I assume in the case of LD they do employ 3D models of the ships, but sometimes – as with those background ships – decide to give them a painterly, 2D look, because they certainly want to emulate classic 2D animation with this.

There’s also no need to waste resources on making a 3D model if the ship isn’t moving.

Like, I’m pretty sure there’s a couple shots in Season 1 where the Cerritos herself is even 2D. With season 2 it feels like they have a bigger budget, we’re seeing more ship action and better CG with the Cerritos.

Believe me, it's “wasting resources” to draw – for example – two version of the Andorian ship from two different perspectives from scratch, rather than having a (probably already existent) 3D model of the ship, position it like you want it in the frame and apply some effects to give it a painted style.

EDIT: Granted, we are all just speculating. I don't own the season one Blu-ray yet. Has there been some behind-the-scenes info on how they create the show? Would love to see something like this. :)

I think the docked ships and Starbase are 2D. Compare them the Cerritos when it's docked to the station, it's clearly a 3D model. There's no rendered depth to the ships and station.

Just to add on the side, I love the colors in those images.

I wonder how the Dooplers Duplicating Bio-Mechanism even works, because that is incredibly powerful if you can control it and not let your emotions control it.

And how does it not violate the "Law of Conservation of Energy"?

Imagine being able to clone yourself to get more things done voluntarily.

Are the clones like Naruto's Kage Bunshin clones where they're somewhat flimsy and easily defeatable if you're inexperienced?

Also when are we going to get to see Rutherford x Mariner & Tendi x Boimler in a dedicated episode where they're paired together to have different adventures together where they get to really interact?

And when are we going to get more Boys Trips & Girls Trips?
Honestly I’m wondering what the limitations are, like if it’s a biological response, why are they cloned with clothes? Like is it a proximity thing, or like controlled by subconscious thought? What about held objects?

It just occurred to me, that it kinda made sense as a flight response from a biological pov.
The doopler feels they are on mortal danger, so they dooplicate, multiple times even, so any predator is much more likely to eat the wrong one(s), giving the original one time to escape.

You serious? A high end party with relatively famous officers from across starfleet, and you don’t think people would either crash the party, or some one nefarious might not come in guns blazing?

on a starship there’s no need

“PICARD: We may indeed. Those comm. panels are for official ship business.
RALPH: If they are so important, why don't they need an executive key?
PICARD: Aboard a starship, that is not necessary. We are all capable of exercising self-discipline. Now, you will refrain from using them. ”

But on a starbase it’s a different story

“ODO: I know these incidents are the exception rather than the rule, but if security breaches like these could happen on the flagship of the Federation, imagine the difficulty of maintaining security at an open port such as DS Nine”

I think the "we don't secure our com panels" is just plain dumb. You want something to slow down an invading force or a spy.

Even Spacedock could muster just one starship to try to prevent Kirk from stealing the Enterprise. And that's the largest orbital facility in Sector 001 and over the central planet of the Federation.

In those days starfleet didn't have any ships - Kirk's was the only ship in the entire quadrant!

and yes, Starfleet security is often very lax.

As Odo pointed out -- a couple of ferengi taking over the ship, wouldn't happen on DS9. Closest that got to happening on DS9 was when Quark sprung Rom from dominion prison. Or I guess in Babel when everyone else was comatose apart from Quark and Odo.

Starfleet propaganda is a significantly different level to reality.
