Exactly. I don't think Mike would be recognisable with a full head of hair

Went by me too.How did I not realise the guy in the Pike wheelchair was Alex Kurtzman?![]()
Why do you have to pull a completely unrelated example from a different era altogether? The question is whether or not Boimler carries a unique ID. It would be ridiculous if he didn’t, and Starfleet security isn’t supposed to be ridiculous (what would Worf say if asked about this in hypothetical dialogue?), even if it’s sometimes written carelessly or bent for dramatic purposes.
The number of episodes that would be radically different if the ship/station at the heart of things took basic security measures like body-worn cameras. 24/7 security feeds of sensitive areas. lockouts of the transporter and other key systems has got to be pretty high.
I choose to believe that no security system will overcome human stupidity...
Yet, that's what "foolproof" means: Something that even a fool can't mess up.
I choose to believe that no security system will overcome human stupidity. It would sound like I was making stuff up if I told you about the time a nuclear missile silo was left open for months.
I think I heard that a jet once crashed because some idiot forgot a rag in one of the pipes.
A thought I just had when considering William Boimler: if there is any kind of attraction on Brad's part to Mariner, a Boimler who has embraced his Riker-ness could actively pursue Mariner if his perspective has changed that much. That could be an interesting way to go about things, especially if Mariner found this "edgier" Boimler attractive. She does find the Riker-like Ransom attractive, after all.
Did someone install HoloComms again?I choose to believe the ship was a mess in The Final Frontier because Scotty was removing everything that would interfere with the actual running of the ship.

Yes, if we are to believe Pike's assessment, the holocomms is what messed up the Enterprise. He must be right too, since they stopped using them on all the ships for a century.

He keeps the parts on a shelf in his office.I also choose to believe the transwarp engine worked fine until Scotty sabotaged it and no one bothered to check why it didn't work
Holocomms were not used from 2258 until we saw one again in 2373 when the Admiral spoke to Sisko and Bashir about the perils and criminal penalties of genetic engineering. At least by then holograms appeared solid with natural flesh tones.
