Snowpiercer (TV series)

Not really. It's one of those things you have to look past to accept the premise of the show. I don't mind because I'm far more interested in the sociological and psychological aspects of the show.
Well, you know I was more ready to suspend my disbelief at the film because, indeed, they could also have called it "METAPHOR: THE MOVIE". A little less towards the series, which is more oriented towards verisimilitude (for example, the whole subplot of the planet that begins to heat up). Even a line thrown there would have been enough, like "Thank goodness Mr. Wilford invented the super indestructible metal of the tracks before the apocalypse!"

I honestly never really gave that much thought to the tracks.
They do have the suits for going outside, so I guess there's always a chance they could have a way to send people out to fix issues with the track.

Not to mention that if they're travelling on a perpetual motion machine, I'm willing to suspend disbelief about the tracks ;)
They actually explained this exactly in the episode I'm watching ( "Perpetual engine" is just a PR gimmick. The train use hydrogen from the snow collected)

Oh, I must have missed that tidbit. I guess it makes sense to say it's perpetual in the sense that it's entirely self-contained.
And this is the reason why the train can't stop. In this case they couldn't collect enough snow to power the engine.

Ahh yes, and why technically the warming is bad for the train, according to Willford himself, who curiously doesn't want news of the warming trend to leak out.

I don't really think about it until they go over a bridge and then the illusion is broken a little bit

TNT released a video with Daveed Diggs announcing the end of production on Season 3, and a Season 4 renewal. If they can keep up the quality of Season 1 and 2, then I'm very happy to be getting that much more.

I was trying to see who else was behind Diggs to get a clue who might survive to the end of Season 3. So far I've got Mickey Sumner/Bess, I think the person in the chair might be Rowan Blanchard/Alex or Sheila Fand/Zarah, but I'm not as confident on that one. Iddo Goldberg/Knox is pretty clear on the left, but I'm not sure who that is next to him and behind the person in the chair.

Yeah, I saw this news earlier and I'm pretty excited about it.

As for who's behind him, they're definitely Mickey Sumner, Iddo Goldberg, Rowan Blanchard, and Shelia Vand. The beginning of the video makes it clear for the first three with the individual shots and seems clear to me that's Vand sitting in the chair.

New Eden definitely throws an interesting new element into the show.
Looks like things are getting even nastier on Snowpiercer with Wilford having complete control.

Just got a released ping from Netflix. Can't wait to watch a few episodes tonight/tomorrow. Was really surprised how much I have liked it so far but I do worry about how long they can drag the premise out for ( the really likable cast do help a lot )

The season three premiere was a lot of fun. A six-month jump isn't unexpected, not just to speed up Zarah's pregnancy, but also to give Layton and company enough time to collect data...and frustrations. I'm curious to see how long the season keeps the two trains apart.

While there's still plenty of interesting sociological dynamics at play on Snowpiercer (there's no first class...but now there's an even lower class than the Tailies of old), there's only so much data collecting and craziness from Audrey the pirate train can do. But the introduction Archie Panjabi's character and Layton's mysterious vision of a magnificent tree in warm weather should keep things fresh until the two trains do unite. Plus that long distant hope for Melanie's survival...

Speaking of survival, I didn't expect to see Javi still alive after the horrific mauling he endured. But now he's Wilford's prisoner, the poor bastard. Along with Zarah's impending labor, Wilford has at least three valuable prisoners to hold against Layton. Four if he catches up with Ruth.

Ah, sweet, sweet Ruth. I know I've said this before but I love how far Ruth has come. She's now the rebel constantly in running and in hiding, waiting out the clock for Layton's return, which is a lovely dynamic shift from her longing for Wilford. But she's not the only to change drastically: Audrey really is quite crazy. We're suppose to believe she she was always deeply devoted to Wilford and that's what drives her now, but I not sure how well that'll hold up on rewatch of the first season (which I'll probably won't do until the show is over).

No matter how implausible things get on a scientific level, I don't mind because I'm enjoying these characters far too much too care.

Yeah, this was a great start to the season.
I was actually thinking the same thing about Ruth, it's hard to believe she's gone from being totally devoted to Wilford's ideals to leading the Resistance against him. But it makes perfect sense with the way the character has evolved through the seasons.
Really curious to see who Archie Panjabi's character is.
It will be interesting to see where they take Alex's character as the season goes on, it wasn't that hard for Audrey to almost get her to go back to her father.
Poor Javi, things definitely aren't looking good for him.
Man the punishment for the guy letting people take baths and the bather was nasty.
I'm very curious if Melanie will turn up later, I saw someone make a comment about Jennifer Connolly appearing this season, and they do have Melanie on the Season 3 poster along with Layton.

Wheee! That was fun. Looks like the more Wilford clamps down, the more people help resist (meant both ways). I know the science is... hinky, at best, but the characters and story make up for that for me.

  • Ruth! I'm boggled that the prim and proper head of Hospitality is now running the Resistance.
  • Pike! Interesting to see him as a kind of 2nd in command. Also, was he flirting with Ruth?
  • Audrey is now Officially Crazypants.
  • I like that Wilford's bodyguard, Sykes, seems to have switched sides somewhat.
  • Martin Colvin needs beaten up.
  • Poor Javi! He looks bad. Based on the IVs and the attack dog, I think he's being forced to run Big Alice 24/7.
  • Because Wilford is a narcissistic sociopath. Sean Bean is really killing this role.
  • I loved the juxtaposition between everyone freezing (except Wilford) on Big Alice and everyone sweating on Snowpiercer.
  • Layton had a... vision? Interesting development, and not something I expected.
  • I can't wait to see who Layton brought back and what they're story is.
  • I really REALLY hope Melanie is alive.
  • Alex is fascinating. She *knows* Wilford is horrible, but she was still a tiny bit tempted by Audrey, I think. The force of being raised by someone *and* of Audrey's powers of persuasion.
  • Till's face when asked to pilot by Alex was priceless.
  • Let's not forget the continuing adventures of Bonnie and Cl... I mean LJ and Oz.
  • What in the nine hells are the Headwoods doing to Zarah's unborn child? What does Wilford want with it?

New Eden?

A lot of Christians on board who are sure that there ever was an Old Eden?
New Eden.

Neweden.

Neden.

Needing.

I'll be waiting until they're all released to watch them. Friends and I have a Watchparty thing we do, and this will be one of the things we'll watch together.
