So we're sure the nacelles reattach themselves when the ship goes to warp? Isn't the whole point of having detached nacelles that there's some sort of benefit to them being that way?

I'm sure there IS a benefit, we just don't know what it is.

And I'm totally fine with that. Certain things, like the detached nacelles and the Turbolift Funhouse, they do just because it looks cool. I find that very refreshing. I couldn't give two shits how realistic it is, or if they ever explain it. Just roll with it already! :techman:

Whether there is a defined purpose to them or there isn't, the footage before the explosion did show them being attached while at warp. The final shot of the episode also showed them becoming attached before the ship went to warp.

I don't agree. Hell, I'm GLAD Osyraa is dead.

For all of her claims of negotiating with the Federation and giving legitimacy to the Emerald Chain, it's obvious that Osyraa was a manipulative, violent, bloodthirsty war criminal, without a shred of morality or decency. In the end, she got what she deserved.
She did get what she deserved. I still miss her as a villain. I found her entertaining, a facet that seems to be missed in many Trek villains.

Okay. Just asking no need to be so defensive. Jeez...

While I am normally opposed to rule of cool type of ideas there is a simple fact that entertainment is meant to be entertaining. Having fun with the concept, exploring some technological ideas that seem far out there but fitting in to the sense of the world. In this instance yeah it works.

Actually I kind of wish they'd explained that it was 32nd century "TARDIS" tech since we'd already seen a time travel pod from roughly this same era with similar internal dimensions in ENT.

I'm sure even though the Temporal Cold War and the Temporal Wars are over that Starfleet would still have that kind of technology or at least know how to revive it for non-temporal uses.

I mean, an explanation is always nice but since it is previously established I feel safe in allowing that be the explanation until stated otherwise. Occam's razor and a lot more fun than just "The writers suck!"

Like I said it was so outrageously dumb it actually helped my rating of the episode. So silly it improved it! That's not something that happens every day.

Question is would it be allowed.
We know that Trek has a nasty habit of shelving perfectly good technology if its banned in any shape/form (meaning that you aren't usually allowed to even reference the banned technology, let alone repurpose it for non banned use).

In that sense, I found the rift generating technology from the USS Aeon (Braxton's shuttle ship) to be incredibly useful as a shortcut through time and space (it was generated in the Alpha Quadrant, SOL system, and had an exit point in the Delta Quadrant - about 72 000 lightyears away in a different time frame no less).
This is why I already suggested before that Starfleet could have continued to use this technology, but modify it to prevent travel through time and only to act as a shortcut in regards to traveling from point A to point B.
