I think they were going more for the Charlie's Angels logo.

Which is fine, but it wasn't a freeze frame or a logo, it was three live women standing in a sustained pose. It stood out as being artificial.

It reminded me of Star Trek TAS when Cyrano Jones beamed in and they had him standing like they used a character concept drawing or a promo picture.

It was a shot of superheroes posing for the camera. A degree of stylization is to be expected.

Not to disappointed, especially since we have the Painkiller spin-off as a possibility and Superman & Lois on the way.

With the cancellations of Supergirl and Black Lightning, S&L is all the Arrowverse I want or need (unless they decided to do a Legion of Super-Heroes show).

Guggenheim addresses that in the article. He says it could only really be done on Legends but the tone wouldn't match, and he's leaning toward resolving it in a comic book instead.

I still love Legends of Tomorrow, and like Flash (though I'll miss Ralph).

I still think they should just recast Ralph. He's a shapeshifter!

While it would have been neat to keep having an arrow shooting hero in the Arrowverse, it's not like there's a lack of superhero content out there, so I'm not terribly disappointed this isn't happening.

Wouldn't mind if one of the Canaries turns up on Batwoman for a team-up though.

I have no doubt that the pandemic was a factor. But there was a lot of silence about the future of that spin off before that effected production of other shows. All of which they committed to resuming and did. Also that other DC characters and spin-offs are happening instead says a choice was made.

Try explaining this show’s premise briefly to anyone. All the Arrowverse show’s used to have opening narration from the lead setting up the basic premise. Now add in an explanation why the 2 Canaries have been transported to the future and/or have not aged. Normally after a few episodes tv show’s settle into the premise and do not need to explain why the regulars are there at all. I am not talking the always elusive “general audience” but casual Arrowverse fans who only watch crossover episodes. “what are they doing there???”

My memory is vague but I remember shortly after that episode aired doubts if Katherine McNamara was interested in signing on to the actual series. Which means all that setup was wasted. Look at all the skepticism on recasting Batwoman or the new character direction they ultimately went with. If she did not want to continue and than a long Covid related delay on production- it would have been hard to launch so much later with a new actress.

I hope to see the Canaries in modern times again. It would be easy to have them say they helped Oliver’s daughter in the future and now are back. Which would be easy for a comic to wrap up those unseen stories.

I don't think this show would have been significantly more difficult to "explain" than any other comic book show, and I'd imagine even those casual Arrowverse fans know there's a whole show about people on a timeship so I can't say I agree that out-of-time canaries would cause much confusion.

i am not too disappointed.

I agree with @Dick Whitman -- it is a bit complicated, and unnecessarily so. Is there any real need to set it in the future? Not just having 2 people thrown to the future, but one of them from an Earth 2 that doesn't even exist anymore. Any reason why Mia couldn't just go back in time? Seems like it would save a lot of money that way.

And what future is this exactly, again? Could there have been be a possible crossover with Nora West-Allen or Isis?

And while i like the idea of a 3 woman lead show, these 3 just don't have the personality (to me) to carry one in an exciting way. And we really don't need TOO many superhero shows going on at the same time.

Networks I imagine still do market research on interest in new shows. Also look at ratings for back door pilot episodes.

I have said before I think introducing Mia so long before the Pilot killed enthusiasm or curiosity about her life . Even fans who liked the character and actress did not care for that future storyline. They already spend a year and a half in the future. Imagine if she first popped up in Crisis as a big surprise. There would have been huge interest to see more of her.

I am reminded of Green Arrow on Smallville. If that spinoff was ever going happen it would have worked best after his first couple guest appearances. Once he began a regular cast member he became a secondary character. Not the best showcase and loss of enthusiasm. It took this show which was completely it’s own thing to get an Oliver Queen show.

I never liked the premise of the spin off anyway. I thought that it worked well in the context of Arrow, and wish there hadn't been a cliffhanger as the future setting would have worked well as a coda to the series.

I just watched Season 8 and COIE for the first time. The first 7 episodes of S8 were great and Arrow was back at the top of it's game.

The crossover was okay. Could've used a tighter focus on the main characters and narrative.

I was curious how Green Arrow and the Canaries worked out as a backdoor pilot. It is a bummer the won't be moving forward. Cliffhangers...so many have gone unfulfilled. Personally, I'd wrap up the future story on Flash and Legends.

This is not true.

At the start of the 2019/2020 television season, the Arrowverse had 5 active series; when the 2021/2022 season begins, the Arrowverse will have 4 active series.

Between those two seasons, we will have lost a grand total of 3 active series, all of which will have reached an organic conclusion.

A show ending doesn't necessarily mean the characters from it can't show up in a future crossover.
