Production Quality Of Picard

No, it's just a different show. You either like it and accept that it's not going to be the same as what came before, or you don't like it and don't watch it. Your problem is that you don't like it but you keep watching it.
That is indeed the problem I see around. Trying to fit TNG sensibility in to a completely different show. I mean, you absolutely can, but there will be disappointment at every turn. TMP wasn't TOS, TNG wasn't TOS, DS9 wasn't TNG and Picard wasn't TNG. At some point in time things will change, move on and develop.

Picard, for good or for ill, is exploring a post war Federation. There is little room for a TNG era sensibility, as evidenced by First Contact, Insurrection and Nemesis.

It’s had one season. Of course I watched the whole thing I kept hoping it would get better. Once we got to the last episode I knew all was lost. The poor CGI with the weird flower thing going on as well as the terrible Star ship design and warp effect. The warp effect is now an after thought. Terribly done.

And yet I have a feeling you’re going to watch season 2 despite your constant inane bitching.

I'm curious what you don't like about the current warp effect. Is it the energetic warping, or the drop back to normal space, or something else?
On a separate note, what's your take on the space-jelly-fish and pregnant-space-slug from TNG?

It’s the ships quick warp zip. It looks cheap and has no substance. I think the best warp effect was in the tos era of movies.

the space slug was a ok early cgi effect for tv. Not a huge fan of the ep but i did enjoy the Geordi/Brahms scenes especially when she found his holodeck program. Lol

Ugh so Rikers bridge was the discovery bridge. They went to the trouble of creating a new enterprise bridge but couldn’t create a new bridge for the Picard show. Geez even voyager created a new bridge set for the Prometheus for one episode. It was actually a beautiful set and I was and still am impressed with it. They couldn’t build one for Picard? They really must not be getting much money per episode. https://www.google.com/amp/s/comicb...ill-riker-ship-zheng-he-titan-michael-chabon/
I had a feeling rikers bridge looked to much like discovery. Turns out is was the discovery bridge.

We got it the first time you said it. Endlessly repeating the same shit and bumping the thread with no new information is getting very tiresome now. You hate that they used the DSC bridge for Riker’s ship. Noted. There; now you never have to bring it up again.

uh I wasn’t for sure. I said it looked like discovery or at least the same design. The article I posted verified they actually used the same set.

Oh...no...they're doing what Star Trek did in the past. The horror?

The Prometheus bridge was just a redress of the Excelsior bridge, which was a cheap and simplified replica of the original from Star Trek VI. It was made in a two-week rush for Flashback, because it was the 30th-anniversary special and half the episode took place on it, as opposed to Riker appearing for a single 3-minute video call on Picard's screen. And they redressed it yet again for Equinox.

Even redressing the Discovery bridge was more than what Star Trek usually did for viewscreen-only appearances. If this were the Berman era, Riker would've spoken sitting in an office store chair before a piece of plywood painted beige with a backlit Federation logo on it. Maybe a single static LCARS display if they felt generous.

what I’m saying is why not construct a new bridge for riker? They’ll need to show a true late 24th century ship sooner or later. These guys ran out of money so we got cut and and paste and reused sets. That’s why I’m starting to hate 10 hour movie type serials. They left nothing for the finale. So we get badly rendered flowers and ships as well as a bridge that looks like a throwback. They couldn’t build a Prometheus like bridge at least? Come on.

Whoah. Let's not bring facts in to this conversation. Clearly reusing Discovery's bridge indicates bad problems for Picard because Star Trek would never reuse assets...ever....:shifty:

Except when it does.

And Ex Astris Scienta did a whole article on it. Well, you know it must be bad then.

Heres the excelsior bridge. https://images.app.goo.gl/NfgLBrEPWrAiavx48They basically gutted everything and started from scratch. The back stations look similar but very different. They look like two totally different bridges. The people working on Picard didn’t even bother to change the chair. It totally takes you out of the episode because it doesn’t look era appropriate.

So does Star Trek VI's sickbay. And yet, we somehow move on.

Honestly, the only reason why we see these things is that it gets picked apart because of the Internet. It doesn't "totally take me out of the episode" because I'm invested in the story, not the set dressing.

This is continuing to look for reasons to hate Picard. Why not just hate it and be done with it?

The reuse of the Defiant’s bridge as the bridge of the “Delta Flyer” in Live Fast and Prosper has to be far, far worse than reusing the Discovery bridge on Picard. Even had the same chairs.

I already told you why, and you chose to ignore me just so you could beat this topic to death like you always do. So let me repeat myself: they weren’t going to build a new bridge set just for a minute’s worth of footage of Riker, for the end of the final show of the season. They didn’t even have time to make any more than one starship design, much less an entire bridge set.

You mean they rearranged the back wall of a set designed to be modular anyway, inserted a few plywood extensions in places where they could be easily removed (like the bridge struts and the front console), replaced the captain's chair with the fancy armchair that half the alien bridge sets on Voyager used, put some stock LCARS animations on the programmable screens and painted the whole thing beige? Redressing it might be, but it's hardly gutting everything and starting from scratch, which couldn't have been done on their one-week schedule anyway. And, again, roughly half of Ship in a Bottle took place on the bridge of the Prometheus. Riker's bridge appeared for three minutes at most in the background of a video call from a single camera angle. Who in their right mind would build a complete set for that? Like I said before, even Berman-era Trek didn't.

stop the screentime for the prometheus bridge and the zhang he bridge (and others created for an appearance in only one episode). then compare them. see anything relevant?
what was bad about the flowers?
