My preference would be for Shatner to show up as TAS Kirk on Lower Decks, but if someone comes up with a compelling way to bring him back in live action, you know I'll be watching. C'mon.

I've just realized that Shatner has joined this thread.....

Shatner is in the Nexus. Like Crusher/Kim/Janeway/Q/Voyager-Defiant-Discovery/Kira/Chakotay/Miral and Waldo!

Jesus H. Christ. I’m talking about present Star Trek, people.

(And not that this matters, but Shatner was playing Kirk while also standing in for those characters.)

I don't think so - closest we came to seeing him on screen was Bread and Circuses and all that "Sun worshiper" stuff. There was also the great "What does God need with a Starship?" question in TFF

It's a big Starfleet, no reason why Picard should know everyone.

I remember an interview years ago where he said it might be fun to play an alien and be unrecognizable under the makeup

I'm not against bringing some established characters back, but they don't need to go crazy.

But I was just watching Children Of Mars and I wondered what became of Kima and Lil?

Did they go on to join Starfleet? Were they so angry that they ended up as mercenaries or in the Fenris Rangers?

I wouldn't mind seeing what the grown up versions of these two are up to.

Do you think that would make for a good episode? synthPicard having to talk them down from some huge situation where maybe they're going to kill lots of Romulans?

Hard to know if they're 100% done with the Romulan/Synth/Mars aspect or not.

The girl in I am Mother reminded me of Lil, she could play an older version of her

I want Picard to casually pass an enormous 70ft tall statue of Miles O'Brien in the background of Paris.

Preferably in front of the Federation HQ.

Aside from the fact Worf & Geordie were confirmed as alive in 2399 (and seemingly still on good terms with Picard) by the show, we don’t know the current status quo of any of the Next Gen characters that weren’t in S1. But the tie in fiction gives us some hints and background.

As of 2381 (the year Picard was promoted to Admiral and two years after Nemesis), Worf, Geordie, and Beverly were all still on the Enterprise. Worf had since been promoted to XO (presumably right after Nemesis, but that’s not explicitly confirmed) and after Picard leaves the ship, Worf goes on to become Captain, Geordie leaves for Utopia Planitia Shipyards to help Picard on the relocation project, and Beverly remained on The Enterprise.

As of 2385 (the year of the Mars attack), Worf was still Enterprise Captain. The last we heard of Geordie he survived the Mars attack, but it’s unknown if he remained in Starfleet. No information about Beverly’s post 2381 status has been revealed so far but as of the last time we saw her, there was no indication she was planning to leave the ship.

Of course, nothing in Trek fiction is “canon” (for whatever that is worth) until confirmed on screen. But given the unprecedented close coordination of these recent tie-in books, this backstory probably accurately represents the intentions of the writing staff.

I’d really like to see Ro return (assuming she survived The Maquis massacre). Things ended on such a bitter note between them, it could be very interesting to see if the years have softened Picard’s clear sense of betrayal.

Ro could easily be a Fenris Ranger.
