FAN-tastic idea, just a matter of writing the character correctly. The whole "Shatner returns to Star Trek" promotional should boost the ratings a few points.
Maybe the Nexus twin of Kirk can figure a way to escape, a man out of time he joins with Picard, the only person he even vaguely knows in the future.
I liked the idea of Shatner being the cook on the NX-01, move him to the future and he can be the new cook aboard the La Sirena. A new comrade in the series adventures.
Realizing he needs all the help he can get, Picard used stored DNA and brain records of Starfleet's undisputed greatest starship captain to grow a James Kirk, but Kirk is accidentially left in the chamber too long and emerges elderly. A few minute of every episode is devoted to Picard and Kirk sitting around talking about all the things that don't work anymore, that hurt, memory problems, getting up in the middle of the night to pee, and the fact that neither one of them can obtain a erection.

Nope. If we get Shatner back, give him the Picard treatment and his own show. Id rather see him as Old Kirk again somehow (maybe even an elder version of Pine's Kirk as was suggested for an unmade version of ST Beyond) than a mirror universe version.

I don't actually think Kirk will be in Picard but I can't say "no" to the idea without feeling hypocritical because TNG was done, so were the movies, Patrick Stewart's old too... and yet here we are! And now he's playing a character who's been brought back to life! So, yeah.
