International release?

Amazon. Strange New Worlds will be on Netflix. I remember reading something years ago that Netflix would have the rights to all the direct spin-offs from Discovery.

Yeah, I remember that being said about Disco as well. They stated Short Treks didn't actually count under those circumstances, but presumably Section 31 and SNW will (though I suspect they might try tobfind some technicality about TOS to renege on SNW and Netflix).

Was it that they would have the rights to them, or just the first option? The latter seems far more common.

TrekCore has an article with statements from Mike McMahan about the international distribution of Lower Decks. The short version: He can't say anything official, but they're working on it. I'm not quite sure I understand how the pandemic is to blame for this, but at least he's not staying silent on it anymore.

Maybe they couldn't move the release up in the international markets?

Yeah, re-reading it again I think I got it now: CBS decided to premiere Lower Decks two months earlier than originally planned. Which means there hasn't been enough time sorting out an international distribution deal. Well, he seems to be pretty sure that we'll be seeing it in short order and that they are working on it in the background. Let's hope he's right.

Linked directly above you lol

I wonder if Discovery and Lower Decks switched spots, maybe Discovery wasn't ready to air yet.

Hmm, it looks like @KennyB lucks out — we’ll probably know before 2032.

Probably going to be a long wait for some of us then. Of course any international launch now will likely be overshadowed by Disco S3 (assuming we're still getting that from October).

They need to translate everything and have local voice actors for all major languages, that'll take some time

So we could possibly get DSC and LD at the same time, outside of the US?
