International release?

November and predictably not a peep to be seen for weeks. You'd be forgiven if you forgot this show even exists.

Either this is going to end up as a worldwide Paramount+ exclusive or we'll have to wait for it to come out on DVD/Blu-ray (hopefully the US one won't be region locked) to see it and that is probably a year away at best.

How many people are going to fork out for another streaming service? I'd still debating on whether to get Amazon Prime or not, I doubt I'd sign up to Paramount+ essentially just for Lower Decks.

Is Lower Decks on American Amazon Prime?? Dutch AP doesn't have it, but a quick google seems to confirm it's on the US version.

CBS All Access is available, for an extra cost, as a 'channel' on American Amazon Prime.

Which ones have you seen?
Not seen any Short Treks. Never been overly fond of S31 since DS9 created it, was one of their biggest misfires making it a recurring thing. Strange New Worlds I have little thoughts on, given my disregard of the series that spawned it I'm suspecting it'll be more of the same.

Picard I might get around to once I get myself Amazon Prime. Lower Decks is the only show of the current batch I'm actual eager to see, but thanks to the shortsightedness of the studio that ain't happening anytime soon.

So basically your opinion of something you've never seen is 'meh'? I'd suggest watching them before you form an opinion on them then. If you still say meh then, all the more kudos to you. But really, don't say something is meh untill you've seen. Perhaps say.... The trailers don't appeal to me and I have interested in seeing them.

Still crazy it’s still not here in the UK. I could easily see that show being a bigger hit if the rest of the world could see it

Not really surprised about it to be honest. The number of people worldwide that care about this show (or even knows it exists) is probably quite small, far less than say Discovery or Picard which have far more going for them in terms of appeal worldwide, even the Section 31 show if it ever happens will get far more attention worldwide than Lower Decks, an animated comedy will ever get. Certainly no one in any position of power seems to be pushing to get this out worldwide sooner rather than later.

If/when Paramount+ gets rolled out to us we'll probably get to see it then or else we'll be waiting for a long time till CBS cut the price enough to make it attractive for Amazon or Netflix and I can't see that happening before any DVD/Blu-ray releases.

And it'll probably be a long time before Paramount+ is an option for many of us. I think the first places outside the US planned to get it are the Nordics and Australia+New Zealand and that will be sometime early next year. Nothing about other territories including the UK far as I know. Certainly with everything going on the first chance we'll get to see it at this rate could very well be on disc, a fair will will no doubt end up importing the sets from the US as soon as it's out there.

Maybe we'll end up getting Prodigy first but I don't think there's been any announcement yet about how they'll be distributing that internationally. You'd think they would bung it onto all the other Nickelodeons worldwide but then maybe they think they'll get more money selling it to some other stations or something.

Based on producer comments, it won't be, it's going to be a lot more episodic.

Also each season of Discovery has basically reinvented itself. If you haven't wanted past Season 1, it's a completely different show.

So don't expect to see it anytime soon.

Maybe they'll hold back till season 2 is out next year and it'll be released internationally in one go.

Will probably take till then for Paramount+ to reach us anyway.

I find it a bit strange; by this point I just assumed they were going to put it on Paramount+, which presumably wouldn't need much in the way of negotiations.

"Negotiations" could mean pretty much anything at this point. We've yet to hear anything official about how they intend to distribute Lower Decks worldwide. Paramount+ is some ways off for many territories (Australia is meant to get it early next year apparently for instance) so maybe they're still seeking a third party to sell it to in the meantime? The... virus might have held up international launch plans also.

A lot might depend on if this show lasts more than two seasons or not. At the very least a 20x25min episode package which is about the same runtime as say Picard Season 1 might make a more attractive proposition to potential buyers.

No guarantees though, I mean everyone assumed the second lot of Short Treks would turn up on Netflix eventually once season 3 of Discovery was out except that hasn't happened and there's no sign Netflix will ever take them.
