All the Negative people.

Well, first i have CBS.. I'm a trek fan.. I will watch. I will give it a chance.
Secondly, there is a slight amount of hyperbole. This is no-effort animation because it looks like 5th grader drawings. Sure the star base from the clip below looks nice the ship looks fair (though the ship itself is poorly designed .. and wouldn't the lower decks be in engineering?) but obviously they did work on this animation.. but to me it still looks cheap and looks like garbage. Every film and show has plenty of work.. and we can still say what we think. My disappointment is that it seems to be a new low for Star Trek. Take the first season of TNG..a pretty terrible season.. it was even terrible when it came out, but you can still see the hard work and the vision (that's the key word here) behind it.. in creating a new ship where the technology meets quality of life in a way no one had ever done before. Compared to that, this show put it no effort. Kurtsman needs good numbers, and slapping this together might get him that,

And the next generation should be directly related to TOS characters and within 25 years not 80. That's taking things a bit too literally.

Why would I compare it to anything? It looks like a 2020 animated shows, as well as I see the passion with characters and the voice actors.

"Slapped together." Still insulting.

Look, I love how Trek can and always did poke fun at itself. When Galaxy Quest came out, I was so invested with all the great stories actual Trek was doing that I was not wanting to watch a put down of the franchise. I eventually did watch it it much later and enjoyed it. When I saw the comic con trailer for Orville, I was thinking this might be another schwarmy put down of Trek, and most of that first trailer (especially the "sweep cuts" which they do in trailers a lot) really had me rolling my eyes, but there were a couple of moments in that trailer that really worked for me. I was bored and I tuned in. I liked the first episode, really liked the second, then the third (especially loved that cave set that they went into to find Haveena and I was thinking Stage 18 omg.. it looked so perfect as 90s Trek) and I started to realize after a few episodes that I enjoyed being with these characters and that the humor didn't put down the franchise. I am surprised I love the show as much as I do

I'd like to see you go up to the designers and animators in person and tell them them that.

Kurtzman didn't create this show.
Maybe I'm wrong, but even if he didn't create this show, he is running the franchise, no? He gets to approve it? I could be wrong. Also your first statement says absolutely nothing

The animation and designs aren't "no effort". It's insulting to those artists to say so.
but even if he didn't create this show, he is running the franchise, no?
And Berman was running Trek when DS9 came around but he had very little involvement on how the show was run.

Just because someone's name is listed as a producer doesn't mean they're involved in the day to day of the show. That's the showrunners role, whom in this case is Mike McMahan.

It's no effort, especially compared to making an actual show, which includes building sets, designing ships and tech, hiring actors and technicians, ADR, motion control.. oh no this is just .. let's make a silly cartoon that looks like a 5th grader's drawing

You keep insulting the hard working people working on this show by saying it's no effort.

They still need to design sets and ships. those environments and ships in that show don't come out of nowhere.

And the ships are CG models like those other shows.

Whats wrong with targeting kids?? Even 7+? We need new fans to come in and take part as the old people pass the veil .. An entry level show where people can get in without knowing jack is a great thing!

Enter Star Trek: Prodigy ...

Star Trek fans being negative? Say it ain't so!

Whatever. Y'all whine and you moan, and y'all going to faithfully watch the show every week.

That's about right!

They watch it in order to hate it!

Star Trek is a drama, with a real vision of the future behind it. I'd be willing to bet Roddenberry would not approve of this show, and its obvious mean-spiritiedness, its childish art-style and childish humor. I could be wrong.. it is my opinion (and on a message board, I shouldn't have put a "in my opinion" qualifier in front of my opinion.

That had nothing to do with the animation or calling it "slapped together."
As for Roddenberry, I refer you to TAS and the almighty dollar.

TAS and this are very different. TAS was basically TOS with some new aliens and some things they didn't have the budget for. There were no shots of frontal nudity. I mean also.. why is right for the female ensign to have her cleavage showing and to invade her colleague's "bubble" when he leaves his fake log. I personally have no big issue with it other than the fact that it is awfully low.. but if the roles were reversed people would raise holy hell. Also this show (from all appearances.. because we only have a trailer) seems to think of science and medicine as trivial things, things that are surface-level "col" or "messy". I don't know, it's just my opinion that this show - while they ahve the right to make it and you have the right to like it- just kind of skips past the vision of Star Trek. Again, opinion..

This cannot be overstated. It's a ridiculous supposition to state that somehow this is ruining Star Trek.

Based upon what? A brief trailer? This is a bullshit premise that basically insults those who work on the show by declaring they are not putting in the effort in a production.

It's one thing not to like it-it's another thing to insult people's work without seeing even one episode.

Ridiculous.

Everything is ruining Star Trek, though. I'm pretty sure I saw a puppy dog get accused of ruining Star Trek.
