HBO Max Streaming Service Thread

If I get HBOGO on Amazon do I get HBO Max? I know you can't directly get HBO Max but does it have the same content?

Jason

No.

HBO Go only let's you stream shows that air on HBO, and only works if you have an HBO subscription through certain cable or satellite companies.

HBO Now - which anyone can pay for - was "upgraded" to HBO Max, but isn't natively available on Amazon devices.

I think you just mean HBO, and the answer is no. HBO content is more limited than HBO Max, and amazon does not currently have a deal in place to allow HBO subscribers (via amazon) to automatically get HBO Max.

Dammit, Bezos! It is crazy how we have to streaming companies fighting for content and even with the damn apps themselves. I promise not to answer another question lol I'm like 0 for 100 lol

I would note that some people with HBO Go automatically have access to HBO Max, but it depends entirely upon whether or not your cable/satellite company (the one you get HBO Go through) has a deal in place with HBO Max.

True.

The HBO on amazon.com actually isn't labeled either HBO Go or HBO NOW. It's just an HBO subscription through amazon, and amazon doesn't have a deal with HBO Max to make that subscription automatically qualify you for HBO Max.

It's all a bit confusing because the content of HBO, HBO Go, and HBO Now is exactly the same. It's all just the standard HBO content. HBO Max has additional Warner Brothers owned content, and you may or may not qualify to automatically receive HBO Max based upon your HBO/HBO Go/HBO Now subscription depending upon the deal in place for your provider.

HBO really screwed up not getting a deal with Amazon and Roku. What in the world were they thinking!

Why HBO Max Isn't on Roku or Fire TV Yet
An AT&T exec says it just wants a standard deal, but that's not really an option.

I saw that article before and even before you get into what the AT&T guy considers to be a good deal on his end I thought this text was telling:

"There's a pretty standard way of bringing these apps to market on these platforms. That's what we're focused on doing," Goncalves said in the interview. But Goncalves also admitted to having no insight into Amazon or Roku's arrangements with Netflix or Disney, which were probably not standard deals.

There are two ways to access HBO content through Amazon 'natively': the HBO channel via Prime Video, or the HBO Now app that is compatible with Fire devices.

You can 'sideload' HBO Max onto Amazon Fire devices, but it will still show up as HBO Now and you're going to have to uninstall and reinstall it any time the HBO Max app itself gets updated (until or unless WarnerMedia works out a deal to put the HBO Max app on Fire devices natively).

I have DirecTV and HBO so I get Max at no extra cost but haven’t tried watching anything on it.

i heard Friends and Big Bang Theory will eventually become exclusive to HBO Max.

Will they move the GoT prequel to Max?

Jim Lee Confirms DC Universe Original Content to Migrate to HBO Max

Shocking.

Yeah, that is not a surprise at all.
Sounds like it'll switching over to be just comics and community content.

I actually thought this had already happened. Have been watching season 2 of Doom Patrol on HBO Max..........

What?!? How can this be?!? We were assured by members here that that would not happen because DC Universe forum moderators told them so, even though everyone could see the writing firmly written on the wall. In bold. With neon colored ink.

I hope the non-original content migrates as well, that's an amazing back catalog of DC programming. And then the Boomerang content as well.

Well to be fair, I think he said DC Universe would survive the loss of original streaming content and that does seem to be what they're saying.
