Prepare to be disappointed.

Geoff Johns has already reinforced the show's assertion that all of the original JSA died.

 

But we a getting a new hip, diversity friendly JSA here.

 

Which is all straight from the comics.

Johns has said we will see more of the original JSA, but its members are all dead in the show's present-day and Courtney's JSA will be herself, Pat, and her "loser's table" classmates/friends.

 

They made their GL a homosexual recently, which was annoying since he had a daughter called Jade before which was one of my favourites

 

That was Earth-2 Alan. Last I checked, Earth-1 Alan still had a daughter named Jade.

You seem to be a crisis or two behind.
The "JSA" diversity goes back to Infinity Inc. and more recently the Goyer/Robinson/Johns era of the late 90's and early 00's.

 

I still say it's absolutely ridiculous that Courtney would be at the losers table in high school.

 

James Robinson is part of the show IIRC, so they could do some “Times Past” type stories ‘ala Starman which feature the JSA.

 

I mean in the New 52.

 

Yeah, the New 52 was a a couple of crises ago.Doomsday Clock and Snyder's thing pretty much wiped it out. I suppose that version of Earth 2 is out there in the multiverse, but "our" GL is back to an approximation of the Golden Age version.

I haven’t read much DC since 2013. The New 52 made me lose interest. Only Spider-Man now.

 

The last issue came out at the end of last year.

 

The "newly" created gay version of Alan Scott has nothing to do with Jade disappearing. She was a victim of Flashpoint.

 

My knowledge of the character doesn't extend much beyond Britt Irvin. And I know next to nothing about the JSA. I still enjoyed it thoroughly. I found the set-up a little cliche, but there's still a freshness to it. It did what it needed to do. Wilson's Iron Giant thing at the end was fantastic.

No one beats Zatanna. Zatanna is wizard.

 

Also, it's not like being a gay man in the 1940's precludes him from fathering a daughter if that's where they want the story to go. Even in this day and age gay men and women pass as straight to stay hidden, and back then doing otherwise was flat out illegal and dangerous.

 

Just to clear up a misconception, DC's current mainstream comics continuity (which started with the Rebirth Initiative) is an extension of the post-Flashpoint/New 52 continuity that adds in elements from the pre-Flashpoint/pre-New 52 continuity as well as new ideas and elements from other media sources featuring DC characters.

Also, the Earth Prime version of Alan Scott - who is more like his pre-Flashpoint counterpart - wasn't introduced until the events of Doomsday Clock, and is not the same character as the post-Flashpoint/New 52 Alan Scott who was first introduced in Earth 2 #1 and is a gay man.

 

The current New 52 Alan Scott of Earth-2 is not a 1940's character, but was introduced as a contemporary character. Which wouldn't stop him from having a child but I don't think he was old enough to have an adult child.

And it is still not entirely clear what effect the finale of Doomday Clock had on DC continuity either.

The current DC continuity takes place on Earth-0. Earth-Prime is traditionally a world where the familiar heroes are just comic book characters.

 

That's a little disappointing for a couple of reasons. 1) I liked in the old days where you had this multi-generational thing with the likes of Scott and Garrick still knocking around but very much retired. Gave more of a sense of history and legacy it it all. And 2) IMO it got a little silly having so many Green Lanterns that were both human and seemingly always on Earth. Yeah I know they've gone back and forth on whether there's any connection between the Golden Age Green Lantern and the Silver Age and onwards ones, but still...
