Hoping for new ENT episodes someday?

Its not about enthusiasm. Its about considering a way around the issue of the cast being older, if CBS hypothetically were to bring back ENT and restart exactly where the show left off in 2155. I’m grounded enough to know that, regardless as to what ideas that come up that could become episodes and could be aired as part of a new series/season, it probably won’t happen. The ENT Netflix campaign was probably the last chance for it to come back. And it didn’t work.

But even if CBS did bring these characters back, there's no reason why they would have to have them return at the exact point ENT ended.

No, there isn’t – there is a lot of merit in starting them off in the early days of the Federation instead of pre-Federation and letting it be an anthology series with the original ENT cast for a few seasons. Doing so would let viewers witness other parts of Star Trek history, and I don't mean the Romulan War either (although it could be addressed in passing or have the characters reflect on that event). I mean the implementation of the Prime Directive and its subsequent effect on Starfleet missions; the USS Horizon; the start of the Federation-Klingon Cold War; the launch of the NCC-1701, Kodos and the Tarsus IV incident; the Sheliak and the Treaty of Armens.

But it also makes no sense to think that if the show was to come back and start back where they left off that the show would be the same. If anything, CBS would see it as an opportunity to reboot it; the ship, the uniforms and maybe some or all of the cast would be different if the actors did not want to come back and CBS wanted to focus on new characters instead. Even the theme could just be an instrumental of the original ENT theme with Archer’s monologue with “where no human has gone before” over it. And if Archer isn’t available for the monologue, then re-record it with Hernandez or someone new and have that person deliver the monologue instead.

I'm just trying to think positively here.:)

It's been 15 years. Any Enterprise episode or Short Trek produced today should be 15 years in the future (i.e. about 2170 plus). Then you can deal with, as Picard has done, the state of the characters in the "present" with references to what they were up to in the past. Bakula is already working for CBS, so the biggest hiccough in casting is already taken care of.

The 2170s would be a good window into the early Federation, and whatever issues they are dealing with, which remain greatly unexplored in canon media.

Since there basically zero information on events between 2170 and 2210 - and barely any information between 2210 and 2250 - the mid 2170s would be a good place to start.

According to the bios in IAMD, Archer is supposed to be ending his term as Ambassador to Andoria, and is beginning his term as a Federation Councilman. While Sato is retired from Starfleet with a rank of Lt Cmdr, and is working on the linguacode translation matrix.

And if we are starting 15 years after the events of TATV, Shran’s daughter Talla should be 20 years old. Meaning she could either being in Starfleet Academy or a part of the Andorian Imperial guard.

And considering Soval served 30 years as the Vulcan Ambassador to Earth, and Star Trek: The Beginning was supposed to introduce Skon, Skon should be the Vulcan Ambassador for this time period, and raising Sarek.

I wonder if a new ENT series would take cues from “Twilight” and “E2” about the rest of the crew's future i.e. Reed being a commander or captain of his own ship, Mayweather married to a MACO, Phlox returning to Denobula and also married to a MACO, Hoshi meeting/met her husband and was an executive officer at the time of retirement (she was ranked Lt. in “Twilight”), T ‘Pol raises a child, and Archer having a family. And the NX-01 and the Intrepid (if still around after the Romulan War) can technically still go.

Shran got along with Archer so well that a relationship with Jonathan and 20 year old Talla would be interesting, right? :)

That would be interesting for sure.

I wonder if Hoshi’s retirement from Starfleet was a genuine retirement – since it wasn’t like she was ambitious for command - or if she was forced into retirement. And if the linguacode translation matrix played a role in her retirement.

Maybe Hoshi perfected the universal translator and retired with glory and honor. :)

A sequel series or a miniseries are not going to happen, but I think a Short Trek could be justified. Setting it in 2181, on the 20th anniversary of the Federation's founding, would be a nice way to give those characters a more appropriate goodbye.

That’s what I want to believe. Although the other idea would be used to create drama, even if it is unnecessary, if the show ever came back.

Let’s make the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Federation. That way, we also get a glimpse of Federation President Archer.

Unless your idea is to show where the characters are in their life in preparation of a Star Trek: Archer show...

Short Treks aren't meant to be vehicles for past Trek shows.

Short Treks are used to be a vehicle to prep for the next season if the content is relevant. There's technically no reason to think nothing from ENT is relevant for current Trek shows, especially considering how DSC refers to the ENT era on occasion. Even in PIC, the founding of the Federation is nearing its 240th anniversary in 2401. Surely a connection showing how ENT characters celebrated its founding, and the context they are celebrating it in, and how the PIC era celebrates is founding - especially in the aftermath of S1 - would have some relevance?

What do you think of a Short Trek about the XCV-330 Enterprise? Since it would be based on a story set in the past, like ENT. Or is that an exception?

The Short Trek writers don’t care about the XCV-330 Enterprise. They care about whatever DSC or PIC timeframe they’re given to write about.

Maybe they found a long lost ship like the XCV-330 floating in space?

There many members of the Discovery bridge crew with not much of a backstory. Maybe one of them had an ancestor that served on the XCV-330?

Reportedly the current crop of Trek producers are considering calling their Captan Pike series Star Trek enterprise and introducing both uhura and Kirk in the first season because you know it breaks with what’s been established and they love to do that

Enterprise is a working title, as is Strange New Worlds. I doubt it'll actually be called Enterprise.

As for new new versions of Kirk and Uhura, I'm all for it. I loved the 2009 movie with them as young hotheads under Pike's command and am 100% down for them doing something similar over 10-15 episodes.

Well.. Short Treks are able to be animated.. So I'd ask.. if there was an Enterprise one, that it be animated! then don't have to worry about aged out actors. ( hopefully better animation than the Dot one.. ugh.. Clone Wars level please)

Kirk AND Uhura?? Just no people.. let it stand on its own.. we already have Spock.. Stop the Fan Wanking! You'll go blind!!

What we should be really asking in regards to the Romulan War(s) is how come there’s never been an onscreen listing of Earth ships that served? Or an onscreen listing of commanders during the war onscreen? We’ve seen listings of movies available in the database for ENT, most decorated captains on DSC, and early 22nd century ships sent on various expeditions on TNG. And we obviously saw the Neutral Zone map that was made after the war concluded on TOS, and heard the reference to the attack on Earth on DS9. So something like that has to exist somewhere, right? Even a list of history books on the Romulan Wars from various perspectives (Starfleet/Romulan/Klingon etc.) should technically exist.

For that matter, why it has never been featured setting for a time travel episode (considering the Temporal Cold War arc) or a holodeck episode?

Or they could do something along the lines of what I suggested,

And then say a cure as has been found for the affliction around the time of TATV. And de-age the cast for the reshot finale.
Not to beat a dead horse, but does the Earth/Romulan conflict had to be a space war? The conflict could've been set on a planet, like a conventional war, and vessels not as complex as TOS ships were sent to bring supplies and weapons. Just imagine there were a series of conflicts or battles in not just one planet but multiple planets between the Romulans, Earth, and the Vulcans, I think this scenario would be a satisfying event than another series desperately failing to ape off Star Wars.

Whatever the outcome, the Romulans stayed off the map for a century and their ships and weapons were not up to date like a Starship and their vessels lacked defensive screens and indulge in a stealth process. Basically, after this war the Romulans suffered from an economic and technological collapse; rebuilding their foundation as time pass by. So I don't believe the Romulans had a cloaking device during that War, and had to use unconventional means to re-invent what was lost. Casualties of War. Earth and the Vulcans continued to prosper as the Romulans licked their wounds and hibernated until they could threaten the Galaxy again.

Its only because TOS establishes it as a ship-to-ship conflict with no visual communications. And its supposed to start because the Romulans attack the first starbase. Presumably because the starbase was built in Romulan territory, and its construction was seen as an act of war by the Romulan Empire as a result. Which keeps it in the continuity of Romulans rarely being the aggressors in initiating conflicts.

My headcanon though thinks that the Romulans use the holotech from the drone ship to emulate Vulcan ships (both operable and damaged) - as a type of Trojan horse - in order to send members of the Tal Shiar disguised as Vulcans, or actual half-Romulan Vulcans, to spy on, disrupt, and stir up dissent in the Coalition of Planets members on a mass scale. Which would give Section 31 and Starfleet Intelligence a reason to covertly work against the Romulans. So instead of being in space, they’re on Earth, Mars, Vulcan, Andoria, Coridan, etc. outing Romulan spies and trying to prevent the Coalition from being destabilized. And then the missions are marked classified for at least two centuries, explaining why no one knows of these events.

As for the cloaks, headcanon says that the Romulans either gave the Suliban Cabal cloaks to test them, or they stole Suliban technology and were trying to reverse engineer it around the time of “Minefield.” I lean towards the latter, since the Temporal Cold War screwed up the possibility of the Suliban Cabal being proxies of the Romulan Empire. Either way, there was a reason that Enterprise was able to scans for cloaking tech so easily.

There have been many non-canonical books written about the Earth-Romulan War (The Good That Men Do, The Romulan Way). I wonder if it would be acceptable to have those books be considered canon. Not in the sense of producing episodes based on them, but by using the titles of the books as history books and their authors as historians. So, a captain is looking through a historical database on the subject and the list of comes up, and can quote events or facts or various aspects of the war from them.

ENT fans, I thought this thread was going well... is there any more ideas to share about future ENT episodes or stories?
I think the Denobulans have a past and have something to share in expanding the Star Trek Universe. It doesn't have to be blood shed or a war but a secret or a spread of philosophies which altered new civilizations we haven't discovered or created within the Denobulan circle.
