La Sirena

Some new shots: again from - https://www.star-trek.info/

La Sirena's core powered down
Also a clear shot of the mid-level-windows into the second level medical-bay

And the reverse shot same interior-windows, pov looking up at them from Medical-bay.

A new room? Different from the main mess-hall, Captains Ready Room? Strategy room?

Seems to open into the main deck level 1 (any guess?

Great shot deck 2 mess, light flooding in from upper deck bridge forward window, and a ceiling skylight above?
As well as the exit hatch on the side.

Not even sure, is this down from the outer hull(roof?), through that skylight down into the deck 2 mess?

Brilliant captures, thanks for grabbing those! This ship was so bleh to me in the trailers, but wow I've grown to love it honestly. I even did a full scale Minecraft model with interior and everything. Such a cool little design.

So we know AMT is making a model. (Scale?
And likely Eaglemoss will make something. (I never owned any, as far as I know these are solid metal molds?

With it being a smaller hero ship (by Trek standards), not sure who of late has the Trek action figure licence? I'd love to see some fun version of La Sirena made compatible with a small scale action figure line.
Obviously the scale and size would have to be somewhat stylized and cheated, Similar to the SW or Joe 3.3/4" lines, between the Kenner/Hasbro? Millennium Falcons (the bigger one), or Star Tours Vehicle Playset / Joe's Mobile Command + wings.
Where you could seat figures in the bridge, and some kind of opening cargo area.

Just a random thought.

Patrick Stewart said that they built the whole ship as a set so you can actually walk around it and see which rooms are where, which is awesome. I'd love to see some plans of the set. And in theory, it means that we won't get the problem of interior rooms not matching up to the outside etc.

However, I noticed that the new briefing room set we saw actually looked like a redress of Rios's quarters? Did anyone else think this? If so, does this make problems for any potential deck plans people may put together of La Sirena?

They built the whole set, but that doesn't mean there are no interior/exterior issues. The side rooms toward the rear of the main level go too far out to the sides to fit inside the sloped wing sections. The new conference room set also seems to be on the lower level (based on what we see out the door) and again, it would be outside the hull if it were to actually be fit in the ship. Another thing I noticed were the ceiling windows toward the rear of the main level that Rios opened have no corresponding hatches on the outside.

He certainly could do such custom programming. And probably did when he bought and named it.

trekcore posted these on twitter, nice comparison of what the ship looks like on the stage vs on screen, you can also get a sense of the space:

That's great thanks for sharing.
Always interesting to see what they do and don't build, what's generated in the computer. So they build the hull, but not the exterior plating.
Also all the scaffold built up close around front of the ship, I guess it's for all the camera shots angled looking into the bridge? As those are very frequent.

Not sure who does these? Edit link; - http://www.starshipmodeler.info/gallery13/og_100308_runabout.htm
If those are accurate, La Sirena really does seems to be about* similar in scale to these Runabouts, almost seems styled like a civilian counterpart, .
Hopefully we can get some kind of similar model, and some in scale figures of the crew.
The actual new crew, as well as a cast of EHs ! ;)

Edit:
Just checked the rest of his vids.
He really put extra into this, the model was just the exterior, he cut built, all the interior elements, and all the lighting himself.
Great work.

*queue someone that doesn't know that about doesn't mean exact.
Obviously the proportions/layout etc. are different.

Its longer and wider than a runabout but the comparison is a fair one.

Runabouts tend to only have one main deck La Sirena has at least two that run the length of the ship.

They would be ideal for Galaxy Class Explorer's and upwards as support craft, could easily fit a dock for one or two between the nacelles for instance.

I'm not crazy about model building, and as said before I don't know who (if anyone) has the current action figure and playset licencee (ie TOYS!) for Picard?
\\Just looked up the old Playmates to see if there was precedence for a ship this scale, and ....

The ship (for a fun heavily stylized toy) actually looks great, but open it up and, ....what!

Although apparently they also made Micro figures...

Seems like these figure, in that scale ship, would be more accurate.
Hopefully if anyone pics up the license, they can bring us something like it, for La Sirena.

Would love to see a comparison visual putting la Sirena next to a Danube-class...and both against a Defiant.

It reminds me of the aeroshuttle as well. Those class 2 / type 12 shuttles look great in those pictures, where are they from? But the runabout is too large.

Too large? That's more or less the design length of 23 meters, which also happens to be canon (that is, the beam, of approximately 14 meters, is dialogue canon from "Playing God").

What may confuse the issue is the doorway set that gets used at the airlock scenes and sometimes in jungle crash scenes. It's not out of scale or anything, but it is supposed to portray the doorway part of a runabout that is already partially buried in the ground, not the whole height of a runabout.

(What also confuses the issue are the scenes with the runabout on the DS9 elevator: the station is portrayed twice as big as intended by the designers of that elevator, so the runabout there is more like 60-70 meters long!)

Timo Saloniemi

I think he means specifically the Runabout models in the pictures I posted, are scaled to large compared to the figures in the same shot.
And I agree, it looks to large, next to those figurines, now having looked at other references.
However the model and figures around it, is scaled close to about La Sirena, which was somewhat the point of sharing the image.
As others have indicated, that model might be to large for a Runabout.
La Sirena, and crew (model or toy) about that scale however, could be great!
