Is it wrong for me to have half-expected that when he woke up in the chair?

On another note, I wish they had allowed him to have super strength in his new robo-body. Season 2 could have feature weekly adventures where he goes from planet to planet beating the crap out of people to save others (a la Incredible Hulk). When the victims thank him and say "But why violence and no speech, Admiral Picard?", his new tag line could be:

"Because I am NO. LONGER. STARFLEET!"

I'll be in the writers' room if anyone needs me.

I enjoyed that. Seeing Riker being a captain was cool. Picard's last conversation with Data made me feel a Real Human Emotion™. Most of the rest wrapped up satisfactorily if unspectacularly.

Not crazy about Picard being reborn as a synth, really this was THE ultimate chance to recast a younger actor to take over the role. And Seven and Raffi holding hands at the end was completely random. Picard flying the ship and trying to do the heroic sacrifice thing was cliche as hell (although in line with what this old Picard would try and do)

And why was Seven on the ship at the end? What about all her XB's?? They are your babies now you cannot abandon them.

    James McAvoy or Tom Hardy?

I honestly expected Picard was going to die and Data be uploaded to the android body, with Brent Spiner carrying on the show minus makeup.

I loved the episode and the entire season but upon reflection I am still not crazy about Picard’s resurrection in a droid body even though it resulted that beautiful scene with Data.

I am grateful his new synth body doesn’t have superpowers like Dahj or Soji. It basically is a clone body, and I can live with that. But I would have preferred if Picard hadn’t died but Data had been resurrected.

    Loved that easter egg.

Overall a good episode and finale. Avoided most but not all of the bad fan theories floating around and gave a very TNG ending. Finally realized that im starting to like this crew and despite the fact she should be in prison Jurati cracks me up and I hope she hangs around

Also leather jacket 7 is my new favorite Trek character

I do think that Picard dying and being revived in an android body and Data dying again sound worse than a lot of the fan theories like Rios was always a hologram.

SHE should be in prison?? Where are Narek and Evil sexy not Lore after all synth?? Are they sharing ajdoining cells?

I DID like how Soong so easily turned her off. Avoided a boring moral-speech off or another boring karate fight.

Narek's probably in jail with Sutra. He got over Soji by getting together with her lookalike.

Agnes is trying a novel legal theory where she transferred her mind into an android body, then claimed that, as an android, she's not legally responsible for crimes her biological self committed. And that even the biological self pleads not guilty by reason of insanity induced by mind meld.

I loved the finale. Give Data proper closure, redeem the Federation, bring back Star Trek optimism to a flawed world.

    And Picard is a robot!

It does seem jarring that no one tried to talk Data out of delaying his termination at all. There were so many people who wanted to see him, even those who never met him like Kestra.

Come for the character exploration, stay for the positronic brain porn!

Which begs a few questions. Did Data have a positronic matrix to back up to in the time of Nemesis? If not, how could the backup function? If so, did he kill the backup every time he created a new backup?

The whole Picard/Data reunion in quantum stasis and Data's death worked for me. It was a bit schmaltzier than I would have normally gone for, but I liked it. It had heart. It has solid pathos.

Altan Inigo Soong: Oh, you know how Sutra has mind meld abilities? Well we decided to let your brain have telepathy. Now you're just like that old film and comic book character you resemble so much, Professor Xavier from X-Men.

    Picard:

I didn't expect that they would really put Picard into that synth body. Many said so, but I didn't think they would really do it.

Seems like Seven might be a main character in the next season. That would be great. And maybe together with Raffi? It looked like they will put them together.

I guess Agnes murder is forgiven and forgotten.

I am a bit disappointed though that we didn't see more of those super evolved synths. Would have been interesting to see if they are really all into organics destruction. And it was also a bit weird that they went away after the beacon stopped sending. It doesn't make sense that they didn't check on the origin of the signal. I mean maybe there were some helpless friendly androids and the beacon was destroyed by evil organics. How would they know that didn't happen without checking the situation out?

I misspoke. I should say a lot less. No Seven, definitely no handcuffs, whipped cream. Maybe opera.
