But not Worf, or Geordi or Riker? In what bizzaro world do you not ask them, but you are willing to ask Raffi or Elrond the Elf?
I think the reason Picard didn't ask Worf, Geordi, et al, is because he thinks those people would automatically agree to go with him out of a sense of duty. That's probably what he meant when he said "And they would do it in a heartbeat, and that's precisely why I cannot ask them."

Picard wanted to ask people who could more easily say no to him, making it their choice and their choice alone, rather than it being out of a sense of duty to their old Captain.

Granted, Picard is Raffi's old captain, but she has reasons not to follow him just because of "duty."

BrainGenius Kurtzman said they did not want cameos from the TNG/DS9/VOY casts just for the sake of a cameo in PICARD. There had to be a STORY reason to have them in! I agree Alex! Like asking a former ships Dr to go over your test results. Oh, IDK. Maybe Dr Crusher. She went to Medical school, right? Wow we need people who know how to fight! Oh, you mean, like bat'leth Champion Worf? I would think of him. He is young in Klingon years. Someone who might be able to get me a ship? Or a crew for that ship? Hmmmm....Janeway? Riker, Geordi, Kira? 10 other est characters?....Bueller?

They dont call Alex the BrainGenius for nothing.
God, this is getting so old and tedious. Put on another record, this one has a scratch.
Admit it ... you want TNG S8.

You want what you cannot have. It's not happening.

Complaining about it online isn't going to change anything.

So much this. It's like spitting in the wind.

No. And he didnt either. He did not say "Worf is too old for this. So is Riker and Geordi!" No, cannot ask them. And the bonkers reason he gives is what shows that that is not what the problem was".
nonesense - do you need everything spelled out? he doesn't want them to say yes for undisclosed reasons - maybe ...
  • too old
  • married with children
  • started boozing
  • they've simply done enough
  • whatthefuckever
it's his decission and (besides they don't want it to be tng VIII) some of the actors in question might just not look like elderly 24th century vets - seen robert duncan mcneill lately?

Just to quote an old friend, "You'd like me to connect the dots for you, lead you from A to B to C so your puny mind can comprehend? How boring."

Why does every single bit of information absolutely have to be spoon-fed to the audience by the dialogue in the first act? Why does anything not directly referenced automatically become a glaring plot hole, even if they can be inferred from the context?

The one thing that threw me out of the episode, was the Romulan Senator mentioning the class of the transport by name. I almost expected him to stop and tell us we would be able to buy it from the Eaglemoss store soon.

I'm thinking the reason he didn't ask them, is because they would've been more expensive over the course of ten episodes. :shifty:
Ha ha! Maybe.

But I have to think that Alison Pill, Harry Treadaway, and Santiago Cabrera are currently more expensive than Michael Dorn, Levar Burton, and Gates McFadden.

what has Kurtzman to do with Chabon's story?

He was willing to ask Starfleet for a ship. He was willing to ask this young man, even knowing who he was. But you will not ask the people you know will do it and have tremendous ability. Who did he think Clancy would have given him if she had said yes? Other women and men who would be risking themselves? It's a douche move.

You mean he didn't ask his OLD friends? And I mean old. They're all old and (most likely) retired with families. What good would they do on a mission like this?

Kurtzman is a co-creator of Picard. I imagine he's had quite a bit of input on the overall story.
probably. then again, didn't Stewart turn Kurtzman's three page pitch down and only agreed to Chabon's 34 page pitch later on? Or was Chabon's story based on the pitch by Goldsman and Kurtzman and he just heavily expanded on it?

Doesnt that sound crazy to you though? I cant ask them! They would actually do it!! I need ask people who hate me! Whhhaaaatttt?

God, this is so old! Ask the laundry list of amazing, talented and capable people who would do anything for you to help you??!! Who would be crazy enough to do that!??!!

Ummm. You. Me. Everyone EXCEPT Picard. Everyone would ask all the best and brightest to help. Literally EVERYONE would do that. No one would NOT do that.
