Asking his former fellow officers was a suggestion as well. But he refused that suggestion. No, he said, I cannot ask them. But the suggestion of this kid he CAN accept?

Yes, because after 14 years, he's actually providing the kid what the kid wants from him now, a lost cause to fight for. This has been pointed out explicitly.

Why are we even so sure that "you need someone who hates you" refers to an actual criterion for Picard choosing his team members and not Zhaban referencing Raffi personally? Tell Picard about "Somebody who hates you" *wink*, and then let him realize that the person who hates him is actually a Romulan expert and knows people who can fly off the books. Unlike Riker, Geordi, Worf, etc. who'd presumably leave a gigantic paper trail behind them and have been probably placed under surveillance the moment Clancy informed Oh about Picard preparing to do something stupid.
No one would ever make that suggestion. Like anyone, you would ask the friends and colleagues who would be willing and able. Picard has MANY such colleagues, not just from ENT-D either. Next, he could just hire a ship and crew. He is not poor. These people dont love you, but they dont hate you either, and will work for the latinum. People who hate you? That would be the last of all last, desperate ideas.

The show has him contacting folks that were involved in the evacuation. The only one he asked to come was Capt Rios, the rest all came along of their own impulse. There's no more reason to track down Worf and the rest than Barclay or the guy in the scant from the TNG premiere. What you want has no bearing on the show's choices which are consistent within its story.

Many others would want to do this. But he says that he cannot ask them. Yes, they would WANT to, they would be a huge help, they are very able, but he just cant ask them.

That's not what I wrote. I literally said that "someone who hates you" is possibly not a criterion for the kind of person Picard should seek out but rather a description of the one specific person he'd need. Because she lives off the grid, can be contacted without generating a paper trail and knows the right kinds of people for the job. If Picard posted an ad for a ship and a crew or even went to a cantina in a desert port town to hire one, he would've raised unwanted attention and alerted Oh that he's digging into things he really shouldn't. Not to mention that while his former crewmates are indeed willing and able, but they more than probably lack the skills and the resources needed for the job and are also quite visible to boot. If Picard contacted the Rikers, Worf, Geordi and Beverly in quick succession just a few days after visiting Clancy, it would be glaringly obvious that he's trying to do something.

ever thought about the fact that an all pensioneer crew might be a rather silly idea?

No. And he didnt either. He did not say "Worf is too old for this. So is Riker and Geordi!" No, cannot ask them. And the bonkers reason he gives is what shows that that is not what the problem was".

All these great, extraordinary and able colleagues WERE suggested to him. He refused that. For the insane reason, that OF COURSE, they would do it. They would risk it for him. So for that crazy reason he cannot ask them. Instead he can ask people who hate him, like Raffi. What??@!!?

That is insane.

^ THIS! So much this!

They weren't involved in Picard's failure so he doesn't see them responsible to fix it. Again the only person Picard asked to come was Rios who Picard hired for his ship.

You're imagining problems that are not part of the show and are non issues because what's happening with the current characters is consistent in terms of Picard's story on the show.

As ever, this show jam packs 30 minutes of story into two episodes. Every scene goes on too long.

WTF is up with people calling for transport as they walk? Why walk at all? It’s not going to get you anywhere any faster.

I'd have bought Jurati's space babble fine if her numbers weren't so precise. To the average viewer who has no idea about any of this, she sounds like she knows her stuff, instead of prattling a bunch of nonsense numbers. If she'd said it like “There are billions of habitable planets in our galaxy and like a zillion galaxies out there," we'd get that she's just guesstimating out her ass. But no, she says the very specific "three billion" stars in our galaxy (off by a factor of 33+) and then says there "are a trillion galaxies" (which is 500 to 1,000 times the 100 to 200 billion currently estimated). She then says there are a septillion known planets. "Known"? That’s the ~number of stars in the entire Universe. If she meant galaxy that means there would be 3.33e+14 (33 quadrillion) planets around each star. Badly written either way.

I know Picard is going mental and that he's an egotistical S.O.B., but he’s been warned that the hit is out on him, so what does he do with seven whole minutes to go till transport? He leaves the protection of the Romulan Warrior Nuns and provocatively barges in where he’s not wanted. If he’s so desperate to save Soji then why is he putting himself at risk like this? And if he wanted to make a point, why not start with, “I know why you are angry with me and I am truly sorry”? Yes, racism/speciesism is bad, but these people have a personal reason to hate/distrust him, not specifcally tied to him not being Romulan. The whole bit is a dramatic fail just to reveal...

...Lameolass. Brunet elf. Meh.

May I say how sick I am of swords in space? All this super tech and no one's invented a defense against such a thing?

Cool to see an old TOS Romulan ship, even though the rope lights on the back edges of the nacelles pylons are stupid.

I fast forward over the opening credits to avoid cast spoilers, so Seven’s arrival here wasn't spoiled. But her ship skidding across the planetary shield is so Rogue One its not even funny.

BrainGenius Kurtzman said they did not want cameos from the TNG/DS9/VOY casts just for the sake of a cameo in PICARD. There had to be a STORY reason to have them in! I agree Alex! Like asking a former ships Dr to go over your test results. Oh, IDK. Maybe Dr Crusher. She went to Medical school, right? Wow we need people who know how to fight! Oh, you mean, like bat'leth Champion Worf? I would think of him. He is young in Klingon years. Someone who might be able to get me a ship? Or a crew for that ship? Hmmmm....Janeway? Riker, Geordi, Kira? 10 other est characters?....Bueller?

They dont call Alex the BrainGenius for nothing.

Admit it ... you want TNG S8.

You want what you cannot have. It's not happening.

Complaining about it online isn't going to change anything.
