It lost the top spot because of self inflicted wounds. Why isn’t it okay?

Time to move on. We're becoming repetitive. That’s all a matter of opinion. I liked TFA and TLJ and felt that TRoS was weak albeit enjoyable. I find Rogue One to be mostly garbage and Solo to be fun if not ultimately forgettable. The Mandalorian started strong but certainly had some issues as it went along. And I am excited for TCW, Cassian and Obi-Wan. I see no self-inflicted wounds here. Of course you’ll just attack my opinion and tell me I’m wrong so I really don’t know why I’m bothering.

Yet somehow became the highest grossing movie of all time domestically. Just a few movies later, and we've had an actual money loser Star Wars movie, while the concluding episode made $400 million less. That sucks.
Yeah, this is a question that I don't think we will ever get an answer to. We are constantly told that Box Office isn't a sign of quality, yet, somehow, if the SW films are not the "BEST EVAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" (trademark pending by Disney) and make all the money then they are a failure...What does it really matter? Unless you have points on the back end, it has absolutely no effect on you. There will clearly be lots more Star Wars coming, Disney didn't spend $4 billion dollars on it to reserve it to side shows on Disney+.

Um, I don't have any financial investment in Disney or LFL so someone explain to me how this makes sense...?![]()
Same here. I pretty much have never loved something popular lolMaybe some folks get a measure of validation because they follow "the most popular" thing at any given time. Guess that doesn't affect me, because I've always followed Star Trek, which has never been the most popular thing at any given time.![]()
I don't know what's wrong with people here. It's like some kind of unbreakable mental lock, no matter how many times things are explained to them it doesn't get through. If you don't care about star wars, and don't want more if it, feel free to ignore the box office. If you want more, particularly more that follow the current course, you're shitting bricks like me right now.
Could it be that people have differing opinions than you? *gasp*
Could it be that we all have our own worldview? *GASP*
Could it be that maybe, just maybe, just because you believe something doesn't mean everyone does or has to? *GASPY GASP!*
Maybe you should stop worrying what other people think. Live and let live.
This is what I mean. Completely nonsensical post.
What is it that you don't believe? That box office affects a studio's plans for the future? How is this at all disputed???
THAT JUST BECAUSE A MOVIE DOESN'T OUTDO THE PREVIOUS ONE DOESN'T MAKE IT A FAILURE!
Do you honestly believe that just because the movie made less than the last one, that its a failure?
Do you see the ridiculous level of your expectations?
Do you understand that you, crookeddy, don't have all of the information that is available to those who actually make the decisions regarding these properties?
Do you get the fact that you are not in charge of Star Wars?
So I am saying it right now - we will not see a Star Wars movie in the theaters until ~2030. And that doesn't make me happy.
yesI'm glad you're so sure of your predictive abilities. But we'll see what happens, won't we?
it's not a mental block. It's the ability to think in more than just black & white terms regarding SW. I care about SW but don't give two shits about the box office. Why? Because I know that financial decisions are made at a level I have zero control over.If you don't care about star wars, and don't want more if it, feel free to ignore the box office. If you want more, particularly more that follow the current course, you're shitting bricks like me right now.
