I like the present-day uniforms, but not the 2380's ones.

That said, IMHO Trek in general changes uniforms WAY too often. They should pick one design and stick to it.

Although it's not as out of control as the Kelvin films.

Starfleet changed uniforms way more often than in Kelvin Starfleet. Kelvin Starfleet actually made sense since they had uniforms for specific mission parameters, rather than one uniform.

Whilst I find the Kelvin uniform design a bit chaotic, I really like the concept of different uniform variants for different uses. They should really do more with that.

I won't say that all of them made sense but I think they did well to try to add more variety. I think the standard duty uniform and the utility jumpsuit made the most sense. The survival suits (blue Beyond suits) were OK, but I wouldn't have gone with that design. It is very busy.

Most of them were fine or even great individually, I just wish they had been a bit more...eh...uniform. Different but still obviously being part of the same 'set'. For example the academy uniforms share basically zero features with the duty uniforms.

Why? Given Cadets serve on ships from time to time as part of their training, it would be a GOOD thing to easily be able to tell a commissioned crewman from an Academy trainee: especially in a combat or emergency situation.

The cadet uniforms actually share more in common with dress uniforms than the duty uniforms.

At this point Discovery, Enterprise and Cabot all have different uniforms in the same era. Picard has 2380 flashbacks with a uniform different to Lower Decks set at the same time. Generations had concurrent TNG and DS9 outfits.

Pretty sure each captain has that uniform design app from Star Trek Online and programs the replicators for their ship however they like.

You can make then so that they're easy to tell apart but still obviously belong to the same 'family.' Like how there are actually quite a lot of specialised variants in the original movie era, but they still share design cues so they form a coherent whole.

At this point, only a show like Lower Decks can give us some semblance of an answer, even if it's silly and random like that.

I await the show telling us all the deep mysteries of the Star Trek universe.

In ST 09 I agree that the design lineage isn't clear. However, the lines are very similar to the dress uniforms in ST ID.

At least most of the new PIC uniform designs look better than the TNG Season 1 and 2 pajamas and the DSC uniforms.

A 13 minute video on a comm badge?

Yikes lol.

All they did was take the AGT badge, trim down the bars slightly, move the split to the side for the discovery vibe and call it good.

It's not even worth a 1 minute video, just a picture and a sentence

Cant' really say I like the new combadge. The AGT one is slightly better, but it is not great either. It is just too chaotic looking.
