Some stuff I dug up from Memory Alpha and elsewhere

- First time a Tellarite has appeared in TNG era apart from stock footage
- First time Andorians have appeared in the TNG era since TNG itself
- First appearance of a Bajoran since Voyager
- First appearance of an alien introduced in Discovery appearing anywhere else
- Picard's gift from Professor Galen was retrieved from Veridian III
- First time ever smooth foreheaded Romulans and bumpy headed Romulans appeared in the same episode
- Kasidy Yates is still in business
- Klingons still look like TNG era Klingons
- First time the Enterprise-E has been shown in a TV series apart from Troi's quarters in Voyager
- Fourth series to feature the Enterprise-D

There's probably more but that's just in the first episode and none of it was intrusive to the plot or characters.
Those things aren’t Tellerites.

Rick was a far better steward of Trek than Roddenberry ever could have been after 1989 but let's face it: the man has sexism and misogyny issues.

Yeah. I stuck up for him for a long time. But after the stuff about Farrell came out a few years ago, I was pretty much 'fuck that guy.'

And really, it's not like I wasn't internally aware of it. I mean, I was 16 when Scorpion II first aired. And I fell into the trap hook, line, and sinker. I think I probably had four different Seven posters at one point. Berman knew what he was doing and I played my small part to help it along. Now it just makes me feel gross - if not a little ashamed - to even think about.

I get the feeling Braga is a better person ethically but even he let his bad side come out when it came to Jeri Ryan and writing her into awkward and uncomfortable situations.

One big tell about the lack of action in this show despite the trailers is the fact they keep using that warbird shot like 18 different ways.

After reading what he put Jeri Ryan through when they were married; no Brannon Braga isn't a better person ethically in any way shape or form.

Or it could be that they don't want to reveal too much about the rest of the season. I mean most of the footage in all 3 trailers was largely from the first episode.

I'm almost worried to look it up, especially given how sweet Ryan appears to be.

I just had a quick look and I couldn't find anything about Braga being abusive to Jeri Ryan. There is a lot of stuff about her ex-husband Jack Ryan, though. The only thing I could find about Braga was actually in a dead thread on the TBBS no less. Apparently, in the book Future Perfect it's stated that Braga, was pretty liberal sexually and would host orgies at his home. However it was around the time of First Contact which i believe would have been before he married Ryan.
