Are the dorks at Red Letter Media really brain-damaged in some way, or do they just love the clicks too much?

Yeah, I just watched the RLM review and they just really seemed off and needlessly critical of things, beyond where they normally go. I mean they were pretty praiseworthy in their Mandalorian review. Here they just seemed a bit out of line.

I get in some cases where they're coming from, particularly Rich when he talks about what's been done with Starfleet/the Federation and such (pointing out The Savage Curtain) but overall they just seemed a bit "off form" or out of line. They didn't seem to entirely "hate" the episode but their criticism just seemed mostly (probably justifiably) come from Kurtzman and Abrams being behind the scenes.

Angry Joe has a review up too and he, and the other Riker-looking guy mostly land on it shows some promise but they had issues with some elements of it. "Other Joe" who isn't a Trek-fan seemed to most land on it was good enough but not worth watching mostly because it seems he was lost by some of the plot details thrown out there. (Like not knowing the android in the bin wasn't Data.) They're going to another review at the end of the "season."

Joe I guess liked early Discovery but didn't like where it eventually went?

They seemed to have the same uneasiness that I do on where it goes from here based on what often see called the "Firefly Crew" and the action stuff it seems to go from here based on the "This season on!" trailer. They're trailers so they're likely focusing on the action stuff, I suspect we'll get more of the more cerebral stuff like we had there with the occasional action stuff. But the space battles and dual-wielding Seven and our rag-tag crew on the ship... Yeah it kind of doesn't look too promising, but I'm at a point where I'm hoping it'll end up okay.

She's a fucking android. Of course she's gonna be better at stuff than mere humans. Hell, Data could have been a devastating fighter, too. He just chose not to.

His "Mary Sue" angle seemed more to come from everyone she encounters (namely Picard and his Romulan companions) instantly love her and believe everything she says and wants to fight for her more than it coming from the "great at everything" aspect of the Mary Sue trope.

If it wasn't that, it would've been something else.

Anyway, I think Picard believed her because he thought, "I'm dealing with weird stuff again! Just like I did on the Enterprise! I missed this!" The Romulans are probably just kind to almost anyone.

Yeah, as was said if Dahj (I'm just going to call her Not!Lal until I can remember her name and how to spell it) had a penis no one (of the "Men-inst" sect) would have a problem with what she does.

But, it's believable Picard would instantly hitch his wagon to this girl's star because he's just a compassionate man who's dealt with bizarre shit for most of his career.

After seeing Seven suffer in that catsuit and heels for four years on Voyager, we here in #TheCollective are ecstatic that she's actually going to fight. :techman:

Who will he be getting to play Merry and Pippin? But wait, doesn't Jean-Luc need to celebrate his eleventy-first birthday before he can do that?
No. It'll be just like the getting the team together scene from a heist film. We're going to get a whole lot of "Jean Luc, you son of a bitch. I'm in." With the Predator-style arm clasp.

Now that Rick Berman isn't in charge anymore, the models turned actresses aren't forced to wear skintight bodysuits and finally get to wear normal clothes that don't highlight their "assets" for lack of a better term.

One has to say "I'll pass" but will show up at the last minute.

I'm laying odds that "one person" is going to be Seven of Nine (The crew of the Sirena is young enough to be JLP's kids. Who's going to protect them from HIM?)

Jean-Luc is out of his league. How many ground offenses has he coordinated? He's spent the bulk of his career fighting from the bridges of starships.
