Well, it's anecdotal evidence, which means it can dismissed as well because I have my own anecdotes of it being full price.

You initially presented no evidence so how the fuck am I supposed to know where you get shit from? We don't ALL watch Star Wars YouTube videos all day.

I will always enjoy ROTS by far the most, but I take the point about box checking. TPM feels almost more like a 'traditional' SW film compared to the other two prequels, which are much more of an effects-fest. I think ATOC is the one that's slipped down the most in my ratings.

For the longest time, ROTS was my favorite but I realized as I got older that it didn't appeal to me as much. It honestly just felt as though it were there to just make the disparate worlds of AOTC and ANH fit together. There are GREAT Star Wars moments in that movie, please don't mistake me. But as a whole, no thanks.

When I first saw it in 1999, TPM was an enjoyable but not perfect new take on Star Wars. I think I bought too much into the negativity of it. But, again, as I got older, I realized it was a pretty good film on its own.

I liked AOTC a lot when it was first released because I felt that the last third of the movie brought back a lot of the fun of the OT. But when I watched it at home for the first time, that quickly went away.

When I first saw ATOC I liked it a lot because it really tried to fix the issues of TPM, and I appreciated that. It took me a while to realize that while it fixed issues from TPM, it just created whole new issues. Honestly, I think the high level plan for the PT was quite good. It was the execution that let us down.

Action figure market has been on a steady decline for the last decade. The people who want that kind of merchandise is slowly dwindling as the fan base ages.

RotS was the first Star Wars movie I ever saw (first run - I saw the special edition of new hope in the 90s) in theaters. I hated it then and I haven't seen it since. It bored the hell out of me and it felt completely and totally ridiculous in every way. Anakin felt like an idiot, the Jedi like total morons, Palpatine like a cartoon and that ending felt like a literal joke. 'And then Vader screams 'NOOOOOOOOOOO'. And then the babies go to nice parents and live happily ever after (but not really).', etc.

AotC I saw probably twice on dvd and I really can't remember much of it, other than Dooku was irritating and Anakin was utterly boring and unlikable.

TPM, though, I actually rewatched a number of times. Jar Jar was mildly annoying and the kid was over the top but Padme, Qui-gonn and Obi-wan were easily the most engaging characters I'd seen in Star Wars at the time. And the music and the action was definitely top notch.

While that's true, I went on Triple Force Friday to Target after work and I was honestly dismayed at the lack of stuff that was available. Not only because of people coming and taking things off of the pegs, but just because there wasn't much there. I was hoping to find either a Black Series figure that might interest me or a t-shirt. But all there were were some Snokes (blech), some Jet Troopers and maybe one 3.75' Rey. Apparently though, a lot of the merch is coming out AFTER the movie because of spoilers.

According to an exec at Hasbro:
    That's saying something for sure.

Admittedly though in the current phase of Star Wars, outside of BTS books and the soundtracks, I only have a few Funko Pops and a Black Series Master Luke.

Always felt ROTS is the worst one, but the easiest to watch. TPM is the best one, but the hardest to watch. Kinda feel the same about TFA and TLJ.

Also, comparing how action figures sell reminds me of that Obama/Romney exchange; ‘we also have fewer horses and bayonets’. Times have changed. It’s like saying SWs is more popular than ever because more video games are sold now than in 1977.

And the marketing is still crazy. When a new movie comes out, I can’t buy a weekly food shop without getting at least two or three items with Star Wars branding on them.

When it comes to action figures, it's also important to take at a look at what character it is. There are certain characters that fly off the shelves, while others stick around forever.

I could say I don't like Holdo... and people can call em sexis. I just don't like her because she doesn't feel like a SW character. It would be like placing Barney in the jurassic franchise.

I watch SW to escape into a fantasy, not be reminded what diversity is with a mallet

So a white woman in authority is “diversity with a mallet”?

    no.

It's a woman that seems completely out of step with Star Wars.
It's like putting an android character in an episode of Seinfeld

I seriously don’t understand how she was out of step with Star Wars?

If it had been a white dude, it wouldn’t have registered a peep from you.

You and me both. Holdo didn't bother me in terms of being a "SW character," largely because that is a rather large category. Just look at the cantina scene.

And, you're wrong about it being a white dude-clearly it should have been Admiral Ackbar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
