USS Enterprise (eventually) on Discovery?

Everyone has different standards of what is necessary to make things "fit". We were given a consistent vision of what the Pike/Kirk-era of Trek looked like for near fifty years, there was going to be push back when that changed, that is life.

For me, the look is only part of the problem of treating the Discovery universe as "Prime", there is a completely different feel to it that simply doesn't match up with what came before.

So it is simply easier to treat the Discovery universe (or TOS, if one is so inclined) as not part of the overall whole. Everyone's mileage may vary.

I agree with a lot of this. For me it has always seemed like the design of the show was done backwards for a prequel.

Sorry, Yistaan. No way are the pilot uniforms dress uniforms. Their construction is too shoddy and their aesthetics too unflattering to make good dress uniforms to be worn for ceremonial occasions requiring pomp and circumstance.
Well, maybe alien cultures found them cool. In any case, this is the same Starfleet that thought the Motion Picture uniforms were a good idea. :vulcan:

Why does anything need to fit? Why are some trek fans completely incapable of accepting differences in the appearance of ships or bridges as just being different productions values due to 50 years having passed between the original and new versions?

I'm with you here. I'm bothered by the constant inconsistencies in Star Trek, but I find it pointless to try to find 'explanation' to make errors or changes fit. It's not important enough.

In a side note, If Season 3 is gonna be all “make the federation great again”, it would be cool to see part of their “rehabilitation” being building a new flagship, Enterprise-S (or whatever letter their up to):angel:

My guess is they are now using alien alphabets. I look foward to seeing the Enterprise-Blork
