I am not so sure about this. Burnham is not written well, but all the others characters are lacking, too. DIS has just problems everywhere. Season structure, storylines, characterizations, etc.. Just everything is suboptimal so far.
My absolutely, 100% unbiased, non-fanboy opinion is that a 'Captain Killy escapes from Rura Penthe and becomes a space pirate' show is exactly what this franchise needs.
I think ... it appears to be just a bit more faithful to the TOS version though. (though all the current Trek Sets are HUGE in comparison)
I love that the Disco version keeps the filmstrip dividers. It does a much better job preserving the TOS vibe. And it's cooler, too.
my fantasy is that more or less first thing in s3 they find prime lorca, caught in a singularity gravity well for hundreds of years, rescuing him time dilation has made the time passage for him almost nothing you can make up anything you like about how he got there at the event horizon in the past i just want jason isaacs back
It always bugged me how you can't stand flat footed on those transporter pads. Looks like hell on the ankles.
I have watched those movies a few times and I never noticed the uneven bubble below on transporters. Interesting design choice.
You'd be surprised how much crap people will put up, and praise unendingly with if they can get a crew dressed in color coded uniforms.
They really did Lorca dirty in my opinion. I liked him a lot more before the big reveal of him being from the mirror universe. Star Trek seems to have a problem with just letting some characters be, for lack of a better word, "mean" without them being under an alien presence, Section 31, or from the mirror universe. Some captains just have different management styles.
We really don't know that much about Jellico. We saw him for two episodes while the Enterprise was being put on war footing. Picard could be a hardass as well.
