    That room is really nice! Question, if the slanted wall with the windows follows the surface of the outer hull, wouldn’t that light alcove in the ceiling be extending outside it? It seems to be taller than it should be. Or maybe the hull is that thick.

    @137th Gebirg: You're absolutely correct, but that's the way the set was build. Also, I think no part of the saucer has the windows angled as they are on the set anyway, they all should be more horizontal than they are on the set.

    I've added a big screen in between the doors, styled similarly to the holo-screen Data had at Cambridge in AGT, as this is from the same time period after all.

    I've also done the bed. I've modeled it after the TNG version, but updated with the Nemesis colors. Blender makes physics based modeling like the pillow and blanket a breeze to do, and very fun.

    I've added some more details all over, specifically the internal windows that look to the corridor, and more small items for set dressing.

    This is all looks fantasitc! I keep expecting there should be a frame around the window like in TNG, but I guess if the doors don't have frames in Insurrection the windows wouldn''t either.

    Man, that's one more place that screen set piece shows up in! I hadn't realized it was at Data's Cambridge office. Nice of you to include it here as well.

    These look like photos from the Next Generation set. I mean, wow. VERY nice work.

    But is it just me, or is the gamma on these just a smidge too dark? I just ran into this problem on some of my own stuff yesterday, so maybe it's just my monitor...??

    @valkyrie013: It's one of those bizarre ideas from TNG that quietly got discarded later, and we never actually saw these windows open.

    @Lt. Washburn: Thank you.

    @Donny: Thanks. Yeah, I know exactly what you mean, the windows also look weird to me.

    @Professor Moriarty: Thanks very much. Could be a gamma issue (I have a very old monitor, so it might not be the best for color calibration), but then again these are supposed to be quite dark, as on the show; plus the darker paint doesn't help, as walls reflect less light.

    I've modeled the dining table and chairs, plus toyed around with a procedural nebula for a background (using this node setup from BlendSwap), to illuminate the room a bit more dynamically. No idea if this'll stay for the final renders as its not up to me, but I thought it looked more interesting.

    I like the idea of windows that face the corridor. In many ways, the Enterprise-D was a small town. Each crew cabin was like a small house or condo. The windows looking to space were like windows looking toward the "back yard," while the windows looking to the corridor were like windows looking to the "street."

    I've never seen someone model those chromed side chairs before. Very nice.

    @FalTorPan: True, but it's a bit weird that it's an "all or nothing" situation, as the crew quarter sets that didn't have the exterior walls lacked any sort of internal windows as well.

    @Nays: I didn't recall those, good eye!

    @Lt. Washburn: I was originally gonna just reuse the desk chair for the dining table (as was done in the Enterprise-D and E quarters). But I haven't modeled those yet, and I liked this design, thought it could be useful for future projects as well. I had the overall measurements from auction listings, so it wasn't a very time consuming one to do.

    I added a round rug with the UFP logo to the center of the room, plus a replicator unit on top of the dining table. I came up with the idea for its placement as there's not really anywhere else to put it, and being the 2390's I'd imagine replicator units would now be small and portable enough that they could be placed pretty much anywhere. The two black bits on the outside of the unit will have small LCARS added to them later.

    Plus, thanks to Lt. Washburn, I got precise measurements for the lounge chairs that go right by the rug. Turns out my previous model was way too big, now they're a lot more accurate, and there's more walking space around them.

    So.. A replicator in the table is like a central Hot pot or Korean grill? :vulcan:

    Look good sir! good to see you have better measurements, thats my biggest problem in doing interiors.. sizing everything right..:brickwall:

    @valkyrie013: Hehe, pretty much like a Korean grill indeed.

    I've done some more refining and tweaking all over, including some more work on random props and such. I also UV mapped the screens and LCARS surfaces, and started adding in some of the graphics on said surfaces.

    I've also done the desk chair. I was originally gonna do the Pasteur ready room/Endgame Starfleet Command style of chair, as those are both in the 2390's, but I simply couldn't find any reference of what the bottom or even the armrests look like, I've been looking for several days now and had no luck. So in the end I went with this design, even though there's also quite a lack of references about how it looks from the back, the best I could find was from Voyager's 'Vis a Vis'.

    The monitor on the desk was likewise not my original design intent. I went for the 'Endgame' monitor seen in the screenshot I linked to above, but I simply didn't like how it looked. The glass panel got lost with the background and was hard to read in such a dark environment. So, I created several iterations of original designs based on the Nemesis terminals, finally settling on this one. The pattern at the back was taken from another desktop display, from Insurrection.

    Finally, I've also added glass transparent aluminum to the windows. Besides the reflections, this has the added benefit of refracting light from the nebula more realistically as it passes through the glass when entering the room, resulting in an overall better lit environment.

    This is so inspiring. You’re making me really excited for modeling Kirk’s/Spock’s quarters from TUC.

    @Rekkert It looks amazing! It also looks a bit too dark for me, although it's much better on my home computer.
    Maybe up the gamma a smidge, or increase the ambient "studio" lighting a drop?

    I'm pretty sure that's just a variation on the base chair you used anyway. Probably the TNG Season 5 Ready Room chair that they briefly used before going back to the normal one. Also, similar to Crusher's office chair. Best images I could find off-hand:

    @Donny: I'm glad you're finding my work inspiring, as I'm finding yours. Can't wait to see you tackle those TUC interiors, and don't forget Sulu's quarters from the Excelsior as well! ;)

    @valkyrie013: Yep, seen that many times. :)

    @Jedman67: Help me out a bit here, is the render at the end of this post dark as well, or better? There are clear lighting differences between the front and back walls on this set, and I want to understand if there's an issue with the overall lighting, or just with the wall that looks into space.

    @Lt. Washburn: Well... dang it. :p Still, I'll be using this variant I made a lot more, so I was gonna have to do it sooner or later.

    I've been focusing on the bedroom today, adding in a door for the bathroom, a drawer (based on the one seen on Voyager, but using the Nemesis color pallet), and a bed for the Captain's dog, Odin. Plus, the first of many plants.

    It looks great, but the image still feels "dark" to me - much better than the other shot where I could barely see the wall.
