3D interiors in Blender

@Nays: Thanks! Not quite, rather that what's usually a light source is now just metallic bulkhead, while the central light source (added for the Challenger bridge) was kept as the main light source. As @The Librarian mentioned, this was done to try and replicate the lighting I used on the Buenos Aires bridge.

@MisterD: Thank you! Yes, I make all the LCARS myself using Inkscape. Feel free to ask questions, I'll try my best to answer. :)

@Donny: Thanks! It's good having a single source of main light every once in a while. ;)

@Jedman67: Thanks :)

@valkyrie013: Haha, whoever's the Zephyr's tactical officer gets one. Worf is still waiting for his chair. :p

@Michael: Thank you!

@batboy853: The individual stations (as on the Enterprise-E/Zephyr bridge) are 1.23m wide on floor level. These are mostly eyeballed though, I originally sourced them out of a DS9 stage blueprint for the Saratoga, when I was doing the Odyssey bridge. Then I cut that in half for these when I needed them.
The Equinox bridge is a bit different on measurements though, as being based on the 'Flashback' Excelsior bridge it has a different scale. I'd suggest starting from that measurement if it's useful to you, but checking with screencaps and blueprints when possible (the Equinox bridge blueprint is available here) to make sure it's the correct size for that particular set.

@The Librarian: I agree with @cardinal biggles in that the TNG style chairs wouldn't merge in well with the rest of the upgraded bridge. The smaller Ent-E chairs (or the Voyager ones, though I don't have those modeled) would work, though personally I think the current ones are fine.

I've added in the aft alcoves, which are re-purposed versions of the port-forward TNG bridge alcove, with the alert status indicators removed, and with the Ent-E style fabric on the walls. I've also worked on the LCARS, adding in the Nebula graphics on the remaining consoles, including the MSD.

Just a thought.. the helm/ops consoules.. maybe use a Enterprise E ones instead of D's? or maybe a hybrid of the 2?

Looks good! Dark and moody but good! :)

I bow to the wisdom of the crowd about the forward chairs. As for the side ones, I chose these because I wanted something a little taller. Also, with arms. I think the change in texture does enough to modernize them, and I want some blending of style to be going on.

@valkyrie013 I considered that, but I think it may work better to have the current consoles for the lighting effects they bring and to match the ones in the command area.

After trying out some different versions, we swapped out the floor for a wooden version. This was part of the original idea when @The Librarian sent me the commission. The logic here is that it's not actually wood, but that it's super simple to change out what the floor material looks like, and it's at the Captain's discretion. This was inspired by the Probert concept bridge, though it's a lot less shiny on this bridge.

I'm not a fan of the wooden floor, especially since there aren't any other similar surfaces on the bridge to compliment the floor. But your execution is great and it fits the color scheme. And a commission is a commission!

[EDIT] Thinking about it, I realized that the standard carpeted floor doesn't have any other carpeted surfaces around the bridge to compliment it, so my point is moot ;)

The one thing I think that wood needs is a similar break up pattern like the carpets had. Make the wood grain change pattern or even go with a different color.

Because the bridge is so dark, I'm having trouble telling whether you've got two different colors of wood (in the turbolift alcoves and the stations along the ramps) or it's just shadows. Maybe lay out the wood in two noticeably different colors, patterned similar to how they worked the carpet on the TNG bridge.

How dare you question my artistic vision? :scream: :D

The wood will be staying, I knew going in it wouldn't be for everyone but I wanted something a little different than the normal carpet and metal options, and I thought wood fit the TNG era's subtle luxury. I also like how the slightly polished look interacts with the lights.

@Donny I did think about having it in other parts too, but I decided against it because it felt like it might get too eighties.

There is a difference in the coloring along the edges and inside the command area and alcoves, with a pattern that's pretty much like the carpet had. Maybe the contrast does need to be increased since people who aren't looking for it are having trouble spotting it.

Ok I see it now that you mention it. When I pulled up the pic it was plain as day but the zoomed out forum version it just looked like a difference in lighting.

I like the wood flooring, but I don’t know if it goes with the cold palette. Wood is a more warm palette environment, that might work better with other earth tones, maybe on an Enterprise-D bridge. I love the gray and dark bridge, but I’m not sure that environment does a wooden texture justice.

I shudder to think about when the ship is in combat, being shook around, rolling everywhere.. rocks could get stuck in the wheels and over they go..
