Ok, so I watched the season all the way, finishing a few weeks ago. I'll admit, it did grow on me a bit, and I'm actually missing watching it. I still say Season 1 was absolutely great, Season 2 was atrocious and Season 3 had major issues (I mostly skipped/skimmed the first half of Season 3 because of how "off" the season felt, although it had some decent stuff in the second half), but even if I'd prefer LoT to not be a farce it does allow enough emotion and serious story in to make me invested even in the middle of the b"comedy". Getting into more specifics, mostly about the cast:
I think that Constantine being mostly serious (and the humor that he is a part of not coming from him being an idiot like it does for most of the cast) really helps the show. Also, Zari is a surprisingly good part of the show. Not quite as good as Constantine, and nobody beats Mick for me now that Victor's gone, but she actually has a personality and story beyond the farcical stuff and she ended up being someone I was always interested in seeing get screen time. Its especially impressive since I think I outright skipped her introduction when I was skimming past the beginning of Season 3, but she turned out to be a pleasant surprise.
Charlie, while not a favorite (she's good, but not someone I'm just waiting to show up), was also a good edition. Take a good actress, but remove the reminders of the terrible Season 2 by making her an actually interesting character. Mick is as amazing as ever, with even more layers to him that should be too silly but are actually good character growth. Nate had that stuff with his Dad that was kind of boring, and I wish he was leaving instead of Ray, but the thing that really annoys me about him is how he almost never uses his powers even in life threatening circumstances. I know that the show has a budget of $1.25, but it is actually annoying how little he uses his power, you can easily forget that he even has powers, and its not like he's a particularly expensive effect. Put a green screen suit on a stunt actor (under the superhero costume), and you have Steel ready to go.
Ray got hurt the worst by the idiot beam in the last few seasons, becoming basically a parody of his old self, but his stuff with Nora was pretty good so at least he got a bit more to do besides be Nate's rather stupid sidekick all the time. Nora was interesting, I loathe Damian darhk as a villain (a great actor with a role written worse then Vandal savage in Season 1), but Nora actually turned out well. Sara was ok when she wasn't being an incompetent buffoon, and Ava worked well with her (although the time bearu stuff is still fairly stupid), but she's definitely one of the characters hurt most by being made much stupider then she was in the beginning. Gary can fuck off, he's never been funny, he's just annoying and pointless. Mona is just there, I don't have strong feelings about her character either way.
So to me modern Legends of Tomorrow, while still a lot worse then it used to be, is overall a decent show (based on Season 4). I'd put it above Supergirl or post Season 3 Arrow, but far below Flash or Batwoman. I will kind of miss Nora when she leaves in the next season, but Ray at this point has pretty much lost his purpose so I can see the show maybe adding a new character that has more story potential, even if I'm a fan of Ray from back when he was a competent hero/scientist.
