New Picard Series and DS9

Was kind of daydreaming about how I'd like to get "back" to DS9, and (not sure if any of the actors are available, retired) I'd love to see Odo's journey back to DS9. HIs point of view, and maybe we don't get back to DS9 until halfway through. Something like that, maybe.

The general impression I've gotten is that everyone except Avery Brooks would be willing to revisit their characters if asked (and paid).

Terry Farrel, Cirroc Lofton, and Aron Eisenberg were thirsty enough to appear in Renegades

According to Ira Steven Behr, Avery Brooks has inquired about doing more DS9. However, I doubt he would reprise the role of Sisko just as a cameo.

One thing I'm skittish of in ST:PIC is, what has happened to the Federation?

I hope they don't turn out to be the bad guys here. If Picard is so traumatized by whatever happened with the Romulans that he doesn't want to re-up, then I can understand that. But if he has somehow turned renegade? I would NOT like that. The motley bunch that he's hanging around with definitely don't look like they're Starfleet types...

hell, I wonder if we will even see the inside of an actual Starfleet vessel throughout this whole thing, let alone Picard back in uniform again.

Oh... even just a few grumpy old men (with legendary voices) scenes with Picard would be :adore:

It's happening in real life, and what does Trek do but reflect real life issues dressed up in sci-fi colours? The United States has concentration camps where children are being allowed to die.

I'm guessing that is exactly what Brooks would not like: a token appearance. Just based on his doing theatre and teaching acting, I think he'd be more interested if there were a role that called for some emotion or conflict or drama.

I've always thought that the war would change the Federation from the one we knew. I guess/ hope we'll find out. If anyone from DS9 shows up, I'm also thinking Bashir/ Section 31 seems the most likely. We'll see.

See my earlier post. I'm settling for begrudging second best here :)

Isn’t the point of the Federation that it’s better than our world, though? In the 60’s, black people were being murdered just for being black people (I mean, arguably they are now, but it’s more challenge/less blatant and supported now), but TOS was largely a diatribe against those ideas and the Federation was still anti-racist. Star Trek is about reflecting our present, true, but it’s about saying “humanity will rise about the bad times of our present and heading towards a better future”. Even DS9, for all its shades of grey, still had that, even when it challenged it and threatened it.

I think it very positive that a non-TNG character is in the new Picard series. Michael Dorn has wanted to come back to his role longer than Patrick Stewart has. Just saying.

Sisko decides to return.
First order of business: find wife
"How's the kid?"

One of my favorite parts of how DS9 ended was that everyone went their separate ways at the end. Those seven years bound them together, but at the conclusion they all had their own lives and their own stories, and didn't stay bound at the hip because of some deus ex machina. It was one more touch that made DS9 the most true-to-life Trek yet, IMO.

With that said, I would love to see more and would hope that the DS9 reboot would NOT reunite the original cast as if nothing has happened in the past 20 years. I would like to see some old faces, and some new, and some people who just pop in for a cameo now and then.

I really DON'T want them to use the rebuilt DS9 from STO. Hate that so much
