Its so weird they are interviewing the cast of Arrow and Emily Bitt Rickards is not there. There were times when I was annoyed with Felicity, but I am going to miss her presence.

No, I think it just means that the video was made by The CW's publicity people as a promotion for their network. After all, they included Black Lightning even though it's separate (so far) from the Arrowverse shows.

^ Yeah, I'm pretty sure that the Arrowverse remains the official name for the shared continuity that contains The Flash 1990, Arrow, The Flash 2014, Constantine, Supergirl, , Vixen, Legends of Tomorrow, Freedom Fighters: The Ray, and Batwoman.

The universe began with Arrow. That's not going to change just because the show ended; its legacy will always be there. So there's no reason to change the name. They didn't rename Ford Motors when Henry Ford died.

To me, that sounds like they are acknowledging that Black Lighting is such a completely different product that it would not work if any of their characters appeared on any Arrowverse series--and that would be the case. It would also apply the other way around, where the Arrowverse on Black Lightning would seem completely out of place, or they would need to be altered to the degree that they may as well be other characters guest starring. Time will tell, but right now, the properties are oil and water in almost every way.

I don't completely disagree, but I do think you overstate the case a bit in your zeal for Black Lightning's excellence, and your disdain for the Arrowverse shows. As a one-off, it's easy to see how they could do it, in much the same way they always made the relatively dour and grimdark Arrow work in crossovers with the other shows: lighten up temporarily. In crossovers, Oliver's self-seriousness is usually treated as a humorous foil for the other characters -- he becomes the "straight man." I think for the sake of a single story, the BL cast could also step out of their usual world and tone to embrace more conventional superheroic shenanigans, and then step back into their own show with no harm done.

Honestly, even without the Black Lightning show directly crossing over, I don't see any reason why there couldn't still be some nod to those characters and that Earth during the crisis.

Nobody's saying it's impossible, just that, at the current time, the show is still treated as separate. It could happen -- I hope it does -- but we don't know whether it will.

...and I've felt Arrow sort of struggled as a decent merger with the other series; Arrow was created to be a surrogate Batman--as in Nolan's Batman, so out of the gates, it was almost an entirely different animal. The best crossovers worked when either side went into it on a fairly equal kind of development (at least), so no one side had to become something it was not all for The Sweeps Event of the Year. This is why the Flash/Supergirl crossover was easier to buy, as both series (at that time) were very lightweight and did not require in-universe gymnastics for the audience to buy it across the board.

Black Lightning is the equivalent to the Vertigo imprint compared to the regular DC line; its a hard-established universe with its own feeling and meaning not to be found in the standard DC titles, or in this case, Arrowverse shows.

The Ford Family still has a huge controlling stake in the company.

Is there any point to that fact, no, but I wanted to see how it feels.;)

^I tried to think of a better example, but that was all that came to me. My first thought was "They didn't rename the Smithsonian Institution after Smithson died," but then I remembered they didn't even found it until after he died.

I guess what I'm looking for is something under the TV Tropes category of an Artifact Title.

How about this; when Buffy ended, it didn't suddenly become the AngelVerse.

Just read over the weekend that Brandon Routh will once again play Superman for the upcoming Crisis crossover. Though I didn't care for "Superman Returns" I do enjoy how the CW is including the fringes. Maybe we can get a Burt Ward or Cathy Lee Crosby cameo?
