So, creating a quasinonexistant inhuman enemy that must be destroyed by all reasonable people, therefore unifying the people and their resolve. That's Goebbels 101. Looked him up. Can't find the exact quote I saw years ago. But I did see something hilarious. His Date of Birth to Time of Death (on Wikipedia). 1897 - 12. Joey was negative two millennia old, by the end. On one hand I find this hilarious, since wikipedia is still using the NAZI calendar, but isn't that bad? Like really super-duper bad? Like some one should report it bad?
They announced at the Terminator: Dark Fate SDCC panel that Edward Furlong will be returning as John Connor. I had more or less assumed since we hadn't heard anything about John at this point that he just wasn't going to be in the movie, so this is a big surprise. EDIT: They have shown some new footage now, and IGN has their description of it, and some comments from director Tim Miller and producer James Cameron. Apparently Arnold is playing an old Terminator, the article says he's the original Terminator, and Sarah Connor does not trust or like him. According to Tim Miller, the main story line of the movie will be dealing with the aftereffects of Sarah destroying Cyberdyne in T2. Mackenzie Davis's character is not a Terminator, she is an enhanced human soldier from the future.
Not me. I think this is terrific news! I always enjoyed his performance in Terminator 2. His return solidifies this film as the "true" sequel. Not a surprise. I thought the trailer made this more or less clear.
That's quite the step up from Star Trek: Renegades! I'm not sure his acting is up to par, but good for him.
I like him fine in T2 also, but playing a twerpy teen as a teenager and playing a battle-hardened, gravitas-imbued leader of warriors at 41 are two completely different things, and his CV in the interim doesn't exactly inspire confidence. Now, if Nick Stahl were returning, then I'd get excited.
I was wondering if that was the case, I'm pretty sure they would have promoted it more heavily if he had as big a role as Sarah and the T-800 appear to have. The cast, except Arnold, and director Tim Miller stopped by IGN's live studio for an interview. Either IGN was wrong, or I misunderstood in the other article, because they say here that Arnold is a new T-800, not one of the ones from the first two movies. This makes a lot more sense, because I didn't really see how either of the ones from the first two movies could have survived. I don't know if the next bit of info is really a spoiler since they had apparently already talked about it before the interview, but some people might not want to know, so I'll hide it. Spoiler They also said that we actually have a new evil AI this time, Skynet has apparently been replaced by something called Legion.
When old Arnold/T-800 was blasting face off Diego Luna's new T (1:20) was moment I switched from meh to....hold on...
Old rumor was there are backstory scenes some time after T2 with scenes of John Conner that looks with Eddie. Either de aged or cgi a young stand in to look like him. I always thought if any of that was true John was killed in new timeline. This news plus the title Dark Fate fits with that.
But given all the timey-wimey stuff we now accept, they could [non-spoiler] kill Furlong off in first 5mins, and still bring back. I'm just genuinely curious to see what they will do.
New trailer: I like how it addresses that Sarah did change the future, but only temporarily. The makes the subtitle a little more acceptable.
