Kurtzman Out?

The more interesting rumour is the prospect of Discovery season 3 is hanging by a thread.

It makes about as much sense as Kurtzman getting fired. They've been saying that for every season of the show and the first season of Picard.

These YouTubers don't have any secret inside information, they are making shit up for clicks, which translates into dollars for them. Real news about the various shows will always hit the trade papers like Variety. Keep an eye there if you're interested in real news.

Whilst I wouldn't object to anything that further distances Trek (and in particular TV Trek) from the Abrams Orci Kurtzman crowd, Discovery is a great show and is doing just fine and there's no way the rumours about Picard at this point are anything other than clickbait BS.

I'm not particularly enthused about it but am hoping for good things. If anything, I think the animated shows will be a real mis-step and could be damaging, but who really knows ?

Rumor has it Alex Kurtzman is out...

https://boundingintocomics.com/2019...test-shows-for-star-trek-picard-are-horrible/

It's technically a rumor but has some legs this morning and is in line with the Picard test screening news from last week.
It has zero legs, it's literally the same stuff from last week, they even cite Nerdrotic as their source and link to his video.

And it's not a rumor, for something to be called a rumor it should come from someone who actually has inside sources and a decent track record when it comes to getting information. Nerdrotic is just a known hater who spews vitriol to get clicks on youtube so this is just made up bullshit.

I have no idea why this thread is allowed to exist, it's just spreading lies disguised as "rumors".

Whenever I see any new bombshell rumors by Nerdrotic/doomcluck/ME and the others, I'm instantly reminded of the phrase "Reverse Cassandra."

You know how she was cursed to always tell prophecies that were true but no one would ever believe her? These guys are the exact opposite, they always have lots of people treating each of their claims as gospel despite the fact that they never have a morsel of truth in them, sometimes don't even make sense at all and eventually always get debunked.

I never understood how their followers can truly believe that if Kurtzman's version of Trek failed, it would cause CBS to correct course and replace him with someone who understands "true Trek", whatever that is, and delivers what "true fans" want, which is, of course, a matter of self-evident universal consensus. Star Trek, as it stands, makes CBS money. If it didn't, they'd pull the plug, plain and simple.

I still cant figure out why Netflix, opted out of Star TP? I mean the hit STD was such a money maker for them. Some people just have no sense of good and bad. Go figure.

Netflix didn't opt out, they got aggressively outbid by Amazon. Amazon also have The Twilight Zone so it probably means that Amazon offer might extend to getting other CBS properties to make it more lucrative for CBS. It's all about contracts and money. You can bet that when the contract with Netflix is up for renewal CBS will open the floor and the give the star trek content to the highest bidder. Unless of course they decide to take back all of their properties when they launch internationally.

We should probably brace ourselves. I think Picard is going to generate more nerd-rage than Discovery ever did. Why? People didnt have thirty years of familiarity and fifteen years of preconceived notions regarding the latter.

It's amazing a guy with a track record of failure of predictions still gets people posting about him.
.

He therefore meets one basic qualification to be either a meteorologist or a stock market analyst.

You could well be correct, but I want to wait and see. I have high hopes for the show, and think the premise (or what we know of it anyway) is fantastic. It'll probably not have much of the tng vibe, which in itself might be enough for those who feel marginalized by current Treks to reject it.

However, if the show has a solid dramatic core, and Patrick Stewart's assured and familiar acting style, maybe it'll end up being the series that bridges the split in the fandom? Maybe not people at the extreme end of things like Nerdrotic, whose blanket negativity is hard to swallow, but enough to make a difference in the wider viewership.

Another possibility is that, in the end, all the above might not matter in the grand scheme of things. I can only speak from personal experience, but the Kelvin and Discovery era offerings seem to be bringing in new audiences. I'm having semi-regular conversations with coworkers over Discovery, guessing future plotlines etc. That would never have happened with Voyager, DS9 and Enterprise, much as I personally enjoy those shows. I find this heartening, and a sign that the franchise is still willing to adapt.

I know what I'm saying is anecdotal, but Nerdrotic's hazy sources aren't much better, so I'm happy to be optimistic with the state of the franchise, and continue to look forward to Star Trek: Picard:)

This is the nerd version of fake news........people on YouTube with NO fucking sources making up shit, then other sites run with the story. There are no fucking test screenings yet. Complete horseshit and it makes me question the human race that people buy into this.
