Part 2 : All of this has happened before... It will all happen again... wait I thought this was a sequel... not a reboot...

I'm getting a lot of da-ja-vu from all this, didn't we cover ALL this in part 1 of this thread ?

Oh right, they can't be bothered to look it up so we gotta do this all over again...

Still 30 days... This is the thread that never ends... Yes it goes on & on my friend...

Where's the movie Alac ? ( to be released the 12th of forever, of course )

Okay, so you said you had Axanar updates, and then the rest of the long, rambling post has nothing about Axanar, but rather appears to be a lot of opinions about how the law works. By chance, are you a lawyer? Or at least, trained as a lawyer? Just so you know, the moderator here, @jespah, is an actual real-life lawyer. So, if you wish to debate how the law works, you came to the right place.

I think that was in reference to the following...
...Which some of us had trouble viewing since the site appeared to be down/banned/something, which elicited some quips, and then it was back working, prompting me to say...
After which angry TLDRs were delivered.

    This makes no sense.

And if someone went and tried to make money off of your artwork and published materials would that be ok with you?

If you want to make money from someone else's property, scrub off the serial numbers and change the bare minimum, like Seth McFarlane did with The Orville.

Don't just pay yourself a salary for making Star Trek without CBS' permission. That's stupid.

But it turned out to be "paying yourself for not making Star Trek" and in the process making it so no one else can make Star Trek.

Fortunately Vic was able to make 11 full episodes of Star Trek Continues before the roof caved in. Oh, and he did the first one with his own money to demonstrate that he could do it and then made 10 more episodes for significantly less than the 1.6 million dollars someone else used to make zero episodes.

That was a model of how crowd funding is supposed to work with no bull about "nothing is guaranteed" or "investing in crap is what everyone does".

But, as long as people are informed by this thread, which serves this purpose, then I have no problem with people donating money with full knowledge of the past evidence of failure.

    Part 2 - We don't need no Education - Wait isn't that a double negative ? - Shouldn't it be we don't need any Education ?

Sometimes I wonder if people ever got an Education based on thinking they claim they 'know' how the law works, only to find out surprise, surprise, it don't work how you think it does... 9 times out of 10 it never works how you think it does...

Copyright Law & Intellectual Property Law is a lot more complicated & nuanced then the average person on the street thinks it is, it's not back & white or cut & dry, TV shows that do court room drama couldn't make it simple at all 'cause it's not...

This is why we turn to folks on this site who are professional lawyers & soforth as they know this stuff far better then the average bloke knows this stuff, it'd be nice if it was simple to digest, reduced to some kind of basic understanding...

Unfortunately the real world don't work that way... Maybe in some diluted fantasy world it does...

Still 30 days... More like 30 years... Feels like 90... Where's the movie Alac ?
( in case some folks are too young to know that 30 / 90 bit from the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar )

Sorry about that, I have old fart syndrome, it kinda happens when you hit middle age ;-)

We're gonna fight for you... Put away your swords... There's no use to fighting... Don't you know that it's all over... It was nice... But now it's gone... Don't you worry about the future... Stick to fishing from now on...

Our 'new friend' made a basic error posting the image they made, for someone who 'claims' they know the 'law'
I'll just say any one of us can take the image they posted & make it our own by doing what they 'failed' to do
Even if they didn't post it the point still remains if it's like that on their website anyone can steal it outright
I won't say what the mistake is, as if they are really SMART they can figure it out themselves, right ?

Even I know better then to forget something so basic when I draw something by hand. Heck when I do my live streaming puppet show it's right there during the opening credits for all to see, to cover myself just in case someone decides to be a wiseguy and steal my show from me, well, the puppet part anyway, as the pre-recorded stuff I don't own, but riffing is protected by the law as it falls under commentary / parody / satire clause. Thank you Weird Al ;-)
