It looked like a deliberately bad video game movie adaptation someone made as a parody on YouTube for a laugh. Has box office fail written all over it.
A check is a check. He was probably on set a few days on a big budget movie, I don’t think he cares about Sonic the Hedgehog. No shit. I just didn't expect him to show up in such a crap looking movie.
This is the part where Death arrives to start the End Times....right?
Yeah, I never understand why they always feel they have to bring these kind of characters into the real world. A Pixar or Dreamworks style animated Sonic movie set purely in the world of the games/comics/TV series could be really cool.
Mostly because that would be entirely CGI, and Paramount isn't Disney/Pixar. They don't have quite the same expertise with this, as the mess they made of something only about a 5th CGI shows after 8 years of development.
According to "sources" the filmmakers have taken to heart fan reactions say they're going to redesign Sonic for the movie. Granted, they can only go so far since eye lines and such won't match up if, say, they make him shorter, but there's something, I guess....
One thing I already love about Detective Pikachu, just from the bits and pieces we've gotten from the marketing, is that they are actually creating an entire Pokemon world rather than just dumping Pikachu and the other Pokemon into our world.Yep, two big issues emerge when they do that: I think that with all due respect, people expect and want to see Sonic in his own world, especially if it's the first movie introducing a whole new generation to a franchise. That's exactly the kind of problem the first Smurfs movie suffered from, and I think they fixed that by the 3rd movie? And secondly, if they're not able to do that, they're creating a disconnect and one of their own making, and one that often differs wildly from the IP theyr'e using to the point you wonder why they even bother. It's just not going to sit well with anyone who's familiar with the IP and it's likely not going to be very interesting to anyone who isn't either.
If they didn't want to recreate the world from rest of the franchise for the Sonic movie, then something like that, with the anthropomorphic animal characters coexisting alongside humans, would still have been better than just dumping Sonic into the real world.
6 months to do it, and I'm betting the artists aren't going to be paid nearly enough to do that. It is their fault in the first place, but that's a lot of long nights of re-rendering. Plus most of the rest of the movie is shit, they can't fix that.
