Why did Discovery has to jump to the future? Just a few moments before they said that Control was destroyed. This part was weird.

Ultimately, no one can be trusted with the Sphere data. Control being destroyed was only as they were already committed to entering the wormhole anyway. Not that they can be 100% sure it is gone.

Fair enough, there will probably quite a few who are not happy with how it was wrapped up.

I havent seen the episode yet but it looks to me like it could continue in the future era with Control hitching a lift on board the Discovery, I do think a full on reset would have been kinder to some fans but of course it would have then upset other fans, I am good either way though.

Burnham still has to trigger the last two anomalies which is why I dont think its over yet which would also explain why we didnt get to see where or when Discovery ended up.

The last two Red Flashes were shown.
#6 was the one that Burnham sent for the Discovery to follow her through the wormhole.
#7 was the one she sent back from the future to let Spock and the Enterprise know that she and the Discovery made it.

I have a strong, visceral dislike of any version of the "one ship stranded away from everyone they've ever known" story.

But, I always said the biggest problem with Voyager was terrible casting (there's only so much you can do to course correct when half the cast can't act), and I often think Discovery's greatest strength is perfect casting, so that's one thing helping me maintain my qualified optimism.

Unlike Voyager, this will be a limited exercise (about one season of 14 or so episodes, probably), and will be followed up by some new situation for Season 4 (probably with them returning and then having to work as underground agents because they're officially dead. Or maybe turn into Sliders or something).

It was a broad strokes comment, outside of this site, you discuss discovery and it's not hitting with the majority, it just isn't regardless of what anyone says, I'm not brainwashed and I can see the general consensus.

A pike and spock show would be more popular, deny it until you are blue in the face but we all know it deep down.

Certainly, if you just make up numbers, you will be told they are false.

Outside this site? Ok, let's take a look at the facts. Discovery has driven more subscriptions to CBSAA than they expected. These are tons of people who literally are paying to watch Discovery. And, it's so successful that it's launched several other series. Therefore, the general consensus is not the disaster you indicate.

I didn't mention the Pike series at all, so nice red herring. But, for the record, I'm hoping for it!

That was Amin. Colt has yet-to-be identified in the two episodes she's been credited. I'm pretty sure she's the dark-haired redshirt on the Bridge next to Lt. Nicola, but I'm unable to confirm, and no one else seems interested.

If DIS Spock appears every again, I hope they will give him better looking sideburns. They were just too big and massive in my opinion. TOS and new movies Spock's sideburns look better in combination with that haircut.

Voyager's biggest problems conceptually were:

• Totally abandoning the Starfleet/Maquis conflict as a potential source of conflict at the end of the pilot.
• The desire to totally avoid serialization when it would have worked well with the premise - both from a standpoint of a ship beyond resupply and because the isolation of the crew should have meant a more intimate character- focused show.

I wouldn't say they totally abandoned the conflict after the pilot. There were still a couple of episodes right after that dealt with some conflict. But I do admit, they could have explored that issue much more.

Youtube Hate Brigade does not really constitute a consensus or majority. Discovery's renewal, or the fact several shows have been added based on its supposed success in order to keep Star Trek on round the calendar on the other hand, are not anecdotal. Great leaps of credulity have been taken and will continue to be taken by some to reflect that this is all somehow negative news and that most people don't like it. It's more than fair to be critical of the show. I can see why some do not like it, and it has made its share of mistakes, but "I don't like it and I am normal so most people don't like it" is a syllogism.

Voyager brought Quantum-Slipstream-Technology home.
It should be fully developed after that Time ( maybe even outdated again) and replaced the Warp-Drive for Deep-Space-Ships maybe even general.
So the Federation in the Future should be able to travel through the Galaxy in a few Months.


My thoughts for 3 Season:

The Era of Warp-Drive in the Alpha-Quadrant is over.
Giorgio joining Section31 in the Future
Section31 was a Bluff and she becomes a Temporal-Agent at Starfleet .
The old Discovery will be abandoned like shown and they will get a future Discovery from Starfleet with a Captain from this Time.
Maybe Ash Tyler as Commander of Section31 left some hidden Files for his successor in the Future to help Discovery-Crew being reintegrated.

To be honest I was playing with a Borg origin given how heavy handed the hints have been

So around the year 3207, the 33rd Century

She readjusted for 20 years, saying they'd go 930 years in the future (~3187), although Michael is at least a year off in her adjustment, as her mother disappeared when she was 10 or less (~2236).

That time/power crystal sure had alot more power than anyone realized. So much for Burnham being stuck in the future, since she came back (#7) and didnt even drop off the other crew members back home on that last trip.
Now that they know how to supercharge the time crystal. They should be fine. If not they know where to get more anyway.

Yeah, it always was kinda weird that the biggest and most consistent "inconvenience" the crew had to suffer from as a consequence of being utterly alone and far from home was having to endure Neelix' cooking.

I don't and I'm highly skeptical that this is true. I think it sounds very appealing right now but I'm not convinced it will carry forward with the same enthusiasm.

Given what Discovery has been like so far I really doubt season 3 is going to be like Voyager. Maybe they'll start out in a similar situation, but then the season's arc will be set in motion in some fantastical way.
