Predictions:
  • No timeline reset.
  • No Borg.
  • Discovery jumps in time and becomes the series new setting.
  • TOS canon is preserved because Starfleet has no spore drive and Spock has no sister.
  • Some shock reveal at the end about the new setting.

Looking forward to this...

I'm expecting that control catches up with discovery before the jump and in order to buy time to let michael get out Spock goes out on a suicide mission in order to give her what she needs to get out. Pike comes in though and saves Spock at the last minute (and Michael may go to future not knowing he was saved).

Then in future we will have a cliffhanger ending similar to S1. "Saru, we are being hailed by.....<somebody>" and we'll cut to a shot of who they just ran into as we fade out.

Now on S3 I don't think they will permanently be in the future. Maybe a few eps and then they'll get back.

I don't expect a reset.

I still am predicting there will be no Borg. I think all of the dialogue and things seen that have been done to possibly suggest that are intentional (or even unintentional) misdirects.

Let me put percentages for these predictions:
No timeline reset - 67% (that is 33% chance the timeline will be reset)
No Borg - 90% (still think 10% it IS the borg)
TOS canon is preserved - 95% (at least in mind of Producers)
Discovery jumps in time - 90% (it's pretty much a given at this point)
Shock reveal - 100% (producers can't live without "shock", so you can bet it's gonna happen)

Most professional productions feed their cast and crew. It is easier to keep everybody on-set then "everybody to to lunch for an hour. come back at 1:30". Feed em and get back to work.
Right, but I didn't know those companies make it to the credits.

Predictions:
* Alcor IV cyclops owl turns out to be Burnham in her suit: https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Cyclops_owl
* Hence Alcor IV is the site of one of the two (three? Can't recall) remaining signals
* Another signal comes over -- maybe -- Ceti Alpha V because Khan and reasons and almighty canon and the kitchen sink
* Ash and L'Rell fight Leland and L'Rell dies vanquishing Control
* Ash ends up in Section 31 series
* MU Georgiou stays w/Disco into the futchah
* Section 31 series gets a kinder, gentler Georgiou because it's a holograph/computer entity, a manifestation of the Prime Georgiou
* Jet Reno lives but goes loco
* Po becomes the chief engineer
* Tilly says something inappropriate

But what?
Picard appears onscreen. "We've been waiting for you" :D

I’m pretty sure it’s been stated a few times that the show, should it occur, won’t start production until after S3 of DSC has fully wrapped.
Yep

Section 31 is in the works as we speak. We will shoot Season 3 of Discovery first, and then move on to Section 31.

They start shooting Season 3 in July. Give or take 8 months shooting schedule for Season 3, couple months off for break... they can start shooting Section 31 show in May of 2020 to be airing by December of 2020. So about year and half from now. Not too bad.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere a couple of months ago that they're hoping for a year long schedule of Star Trek shows by 2021.

I wouldn't put it past them to sneak Picard into last 30 seconds of today's episode, somehow. I will give them 2 extra points if they show Picard :techman:

"The U.S.S. Discovery battles against Control in a fight not only for their lives but for the future, with a little help from some unexpected friends. Spock and Burnham discern vital new connections between the red signals while Burnham faces one of life’s harshest truths: the right decisions are often the hardest to make." - Memory Alpha

This is the second season finale and ever since it was announced that we'd be getting an additional episode, it was a fair bet that it was because the final episode was too long and needed to be split in two. According to a recent interview, it seems that they simply needed more time to wrap everything up properly and from what we've gotten so far, they definitely needed that extra episode. You can read the interview here.

And tonight, we say farewell to Pike. What are the prospects of a new series featuring everyone's favorite captain? And what does Anson Mount think about the idea? Find out here.

Love that Gold Key font
