Actually, I think F Murray Abraham was there because of Jonathan Frakes. IIRC, the two are friends, which is what led to Abraham doing Insurrection.

The female Vorta from the season two finale played Alara’s mother in multiple episodes. Her name escapes me. Tony motherfucking Todd was just in this very one. Kassidy Yates is a regular. I’d say DS9 is best represented out of them all.

I can say that for me Fox's website wasn't working properly, the new episodes weren't showing up. I had to wait until the next day to watch it on Hulu.

I really enjoyed this episode, in spite of the Federation cliches. My partner loved Dolly Parton, as did I. I can't believe how much I enjoyed a Dolly Parton-themed space battle!

Interesting how we watched the same show and have opposite take aways.
I'm seeing these Moclan gender /sex episodes as metaphor for the current LGBT social issues. People born a certain way forced to change. The 60s gender stereotype you see is being used as a metaphor to describe those who oppose LGBT social reform. The fact that surgery is used to keep Moclan society all male is intentionally opposite the reality that some Trans individuals seek surgery as a means of or a part of their transition journey.
Science fiction being used as social commentary. In this case homosexuality, homosexual marriage, children born with the right/wrong genitals, a culture refusing to accept anything but their long held beliefs and being represented as narrow minded and oppressive.
Everyone was wanking their boners from seeing the Enterprise on Disco.

As for Sanctuary....that was the most TNG thing I've seen since......TNG.
The whole feel of things, the look of things, the music...Well, except for the Dolly Parton stuff...
The Moclan woman's speech at the council was incredibly well done. Why hasn't Bortus stabbed Klyden in his skeevy heart by now?? I hate that guy.
I really enjoyed this one. Very well done, all the way around.
Random thoughts:
- Talla's first (?) time in the captain's chair was preceded with a lot less personal drama and lack of self-confidence than Alara's (though she did look very anxious), but boy that escalated quickly for her. I'm totally loving her.
- Speaking of, the Union's red alert / battle in-universe lighting should be commended.
- All the pieces of the game were the same, even the one Topa “needed”, and the girl from the school called Klyden stupid.
- Male Moclans are jealous cause the lady planet doesn't suck like theirs.
- Borthus' made the right call to conceal the baby. I'm loving him too. Ed insistence to investigate a family's baby is what caused the whole mess, and marginally reminded me of real-world overzealous officers who make a big mess by finding suspicious where there is none. He did have more reason there, but should have trusted Borthus anyway.
- Have not listened to Dolly Parton unironically yet, but I wonder if that interpretation of her lyrics Orville forced onto it had ever crossed many people's mind. God, I love the Orville, even in a joke (like the time capsule), just warping the perspective a little bit does so much, for me at least.
- Surprised Mercer didn't just go along with quoting her from the start, and had to utter an “Oh boy”. His Kermit is still there, and he has yet to make as impacting a metaphor.
- When Borthus was introduced as “a member of a male-only species” I thought that was the dumbest, most ridiculous and unfunny idea for humour that you could possibly have, and an easy excuse to put more men in the show.
I was already proven wrong about that in “About a Girl”, but I wish to shame myself again for assuming. Shame, this week's edition. And that's before we count how how the show did an inoffensive, seamless, unforced, compelling and downright unnerving role reversal on the topic of homophobia a few episodes ago, that didn't even register as one until you were out of the story.
- Woah, a genuine diplomatic crisis with no simple solution that Picard can talk everyone into, and that left nobody happy? What is going on here?
