Is anyone else a fan of the delightfully macabre work by Edward Gorey, namely his 1963 art book The GashlycrumbTinies that (ostensibly) teaches kids their ABCs with dark twisted humor? It's great stuff if you don't mind the dark humor of young children dying in horrible ways.
It starts:
A is for Amy who fell down the stairs
B is for Basil assaulted by bears
C is for Clara who wasted away
D is for Desmond thrown out of a sleigh
Your post reminds me of that book.
Here's a DSC version of it, but since I can't think of enough DSC characters who died who could fill in the ABCs in order, I'm going to cheat and skip a few letters:
A is for Airiam, blown out an airlock
C is for Connolly, smashed by a rock
G is for Georgiou, impaled with a mek'leth
H is for Hugh, neck snapped upon his last breath
Not familiar with the aforementioned work. The contemplation of mortality is a vital lens which makes life nearer and dearer every moment...
