seems that the newspoll results have reaches a point where even newscorpse has given up on the spin. Latest (60th on the trot the lnp has lost) has Labor leading 54/46.
There's a part of me that believes that the LNP has determined that its a actually a good thing to lose the election. The economy is headed for a slump and there doesn't appear to be any real way to prevent that at the moment (without taking actions that would go against their ideology). So I wonder if they think it's OK to lose this election and then see the economy crash under Labor so they can reinforce the myth that Labor are bad economic managers and use that as the basis for winning the following election. It also seems that the more extreme right-wing elements are using this opportunity to gradually replace retiring moderate MP's with more conservative candidates, dragging the party even more to the right. As for the Murdoch propaganda outlets, I suspect they're just bowing to the inevitable and acknowledging what everyone knows, so they don't appear to be completely out of touch with the public. I'm sure once the election is over they'll immediately begin their usual role of blaming Labor for every bad thing that happens.
Let's face it what has the LNP got to offer the modern world? George Pell sentenced today to 6 years jail with a non parole period of 4 years and an appeal is almost guaranteed, and the chances seem likely that this will overturn the conviction.

When I think of all the things I am going through right now, it just pales in comparison to this. I just feel so terribly sad inside and sigh what can you do, this stuff just keeps happening. I visited and now regret one of the threads on this in reddit and I just felt so sad after that some of the shitty comments people are posting and general attitude of people over there. I'd advise not going there if you don't want to feel disappointed with humans.
