Did my best to up the detail a bit. Looks like there is no half circle saucer, that's just another asteroid behind the exhaust trail. I can't see a ship at all, it's too faded/blended into the other elements like Tilly's uniform.

What I did find interesting, however, is the fiery planet that appears to be breaking into pieces.

IMO, this ‘shoulder’ ship looks to be either:

- a single nacelled starship, with a half-circle saucer

Or

- Spock’s Jellyfish starship - more TOS than Kelvin (I realise this is something of a stretch considering the quality of the image, but still...)

Hmmm...

It looks like those landing pods from Episode S2E1, which were sorta jellyfishy.

Sticking just to TOS, there are a lot of super advanced species, both the Preservers and Gary 7's people come to mind, and they may be the same advanced race. They do (or did) actively interfere on worlds around the galaxy.
Yep. Organians too,Trelaine's and Charlie X's people, and so on. Even the "Friendly Angel" from "Miri" and Apollo from "Who Mourns for Adonais?" are probably still bouncing around out there and did their fair share of fiddling around with their pet human playthings.

Who's species does the Sha-Ka-Ree "God Thing" from TFF belong to, who were powerful enough to banish it at the center of the galaxy behind an energy barrier? For that matter, who built the outer barrier that had the power to turn Gary Mitchell himself into a god-like being? Who built the various planets that look exactly like Earth? Which one is the orignial? Ours or someone else's? And for what purpose?

Moving into the 24th century, we see Q, DS9's Wormhole Aliens and TNG's Douwd ("The Survivors").

Who built the Doomsday planet killer from TOS? Was it Guinan's people to fight the Borg, as seen in "Vendetta" or someone else? What are the Al Aureans anyway that Q would actually be afraid of Guinan upon first meeting?

The galaxy is full of "Old Ones" who like to meddle in our collective affairs. We can definitely add the Red Angel to that list, who may be related to one of those super-being species.

Thank you ........... I was thinking this last night and it occurred to me that they were all getting carouseled... Good catch.

I found this poster online and is that a ship near Tilly's shoulder? I think someone brought this up in another thread. Anyway circled it on the picture.

The thing about trailers and posters is that they are often done and approved outside of the actual production with little to no idea of what the series is doing or planning.

Just a stupid nit...
The "Friendly Angel" was from "And The Children Shall Lead". (title edit)

There is actually books that explore that but I would be interested in these questions as well. From what I recall (but it's not a guarantee of accuracy) the being at the center of the galaxy as well as the entity from "Day of the Dove" were in cahoots and similarly banished, with each barrier erected to protect the galaxy.

Cool. Yes, there are a number of books out there that explored some of these big mysteries but, like you, I want to see something a little more set in canonical stone. IIRC, there’s also a book out there that talks about the planet building, along with the fore-mentioned Vendetta, explaining the Doomsday Machine. It feels like they’re exploring some of these concepts in what we’ve seen so far. It’s reawakening my long-dormant imagination as it applies to TOS mysteries. Absolutely loving the ride.

Those books would be the Q Continuum trilogy written by our very own @Greg Cox , and an excellent read they are.

The book Vendetta implied that the planet killers (there were more than one) were built by the Al Aureans to destroy Borg Cubes outside the barrier and were powerful enough to move through it into the galaxy inside. It’s been years since I read it and details elude me, but that was the general gist of the story.
