That's not a data card. That's the new "jettison pod" button.I like that they kept the exact same arm rests lmao
Also a datacard sticking out of it.
Yeah, they are telegraphing it to us: "Just wait!" I honestly think that if it's well enough received by super fans and intrigues enough new fans, we should expect another back door Pike spinoff.
We haven’t been given the whole story yet. Patience. Wait until it’s over.As for "Charon" they're ripping out the entire holographic system on the Enterprise to combat the mysterious system failures, which Pike didn't like anyway because they "look like ghosts". So they're setting up the USS Enterprise to be anachronistically old fashioned in a universe of ultra-high-tech ships.
This is a really cringe-worthy attempt at reconciling continuity, and fails immediately since we've seen countless other starships in TOS, TAS, the TOS movies, Next Gen, DS9 and Voyager, only two of which had similar holographic systems (the Defiant and the Prometheus)

I must now refer you to @The Mighty Monkey of Mim and their post in "What Has Discovery Added to the Lore?" thread. This is a really cringe-worthy attempt at reconciling continuity, and fails immediately since we've seen countless other starships in TOS, TAS, the TOS movies, Next Gen, DS9 and Voyager, only two of which had similar holographic systems (the Defiant and the Prometheus)
That's because Trek doesn't make sense when you focus on specifics. They spend some effort making up excuses for why things are the way they are, especially in regard to anything surrounding the magic transporter "technology."
Both of which are examples from at least 100 years in the future of this show.As for "Charon" they're ripping out the entire holographic system on the Enterprise to combat the mysterious system failures, which Pike didn't like anyway because they "look like ghosts". So like BSG, they institute a fleet-wide tech downgrade? That's ripping off the ENT novel (ripping off a rip off) Kobayashi Maru.We haven’t been given the whole story yet. Patience. Wait until it’s over.
Pike said his engineer had warned him the comm system was vulnerable. Maybe it will spread to the rest of the fleet.
There is no "visual reboot concept". It's something fans came up with to try and reconcile a TV show the producers aren't really trying to. There are no mentions of a visual reboot from The Powers That Be.That's what some narrow circle of fans who stubbornly don't understand the visual reboot concept want, so if they want to imagine it that way, let it be like that. For the rest, these dialogues could be ignored and Enterprise does not differ from the rest of the fleet.
Wall of text. I'll get to thatI must now refer you to @The Mighty Monkey of Mim and their post in "What Has Discovery Added to the Lore?" thread.
Now, I get it that this is a huge YMMV place for fans, and I don't think it will resolve it. But, in this particular instance, the devil is in the details of how holographic tech has been implemented throughout Trek.
For a whole century? And what bugs, it's worked perfectly for YEARS in-universe.Both of which are examples from at least 100 years in the future of this show.
Why is it so difficult to reconcile that this particular Trek-Tech became a problem and was put into disuse until the bugs could be worked out of it, when we've seen so many other fantastical things used only once and then forgotten?
It does have pictures.Wall of text. I'll get to that![]()
The thing about Star Trek tech is it can be extremely static. So, yeah, 100 years doesn't seem all that outside the realm of possibility with some of the attitudes presented on screen. For a whole century? And what bugs, it's worked perfectly for YEARS in-universe.
Ah, but when the same producers attempt to state it fits in line with known canon and continuity they are liars? There is no "visual reboot concept". I don’t see the issue here.So like BSG, they institute a fleet-wide tech downgrade
Well it could be connected to something, which is then connected to something else, cascades from there.I didn't realise the holocomm system was hardwired to every major system on the ship, that's insanely stupid.
